We had an amazing time. The horses and guide were great. It was my first time riding a horse and, while I was a bit unsteady, the terrain wasn't too bad, and the views were amazing. Make sure to follow the directions to get to the ranch. I tried to take a shortcut and we ended up stuck in the mud overnight.

My wife and I did a 3-day horseback trip to the base camp near little boulder creek. What an amazing time for us. We stayed in Challis the day before so that we didn't have to drive all the way from our hometown near Boise, Idaho. We got there just before the 9am meeting time with our guide. Jake arrived on time with a trailer full of horses and mules. He immediately introduced himself and gave us a full briefing on what we were doing. He got all our equipment laid out, weighed, and distributed properly on the mules and horses. He gave us a quick reminder on how to properly saddle up on the horses and stuff, then after about 2 hours of getting prepped we were off riding into the mountains. It was such an epic time. The scenery was simply amazing. Whatever we wanted to do Jake made it happen. He made it clear that he was down for any adventure we wanted, whether it was just more horseback riding, sight seeing, photo ops, fishing,...whatever. We hit a few of those high alpine lakes and just had a blast catching the different variety of trout. Base camp was essentially canvas tents, plenty big for the two of us. Jake had his own tent and then there was a third tent, which was the kitchen. I was amazed at how all this was put together. We are used to camping in our comfortable RV with full hookups and all the luxuries that go with RV camping. We didn't have those here, but Jake did a great job cooking breakfast and dinner for us each night, and he had a bag lunch for us each day, which was plenty of food. We definitely didn't go hungry. I did bring a few snacks with me and I recommend that just in case, but I found that we really only ended up having those snacks on the trip back home. There is no running water or electricity, since we're in the middle of the mountains. But Jake ran down to the creek and grabbed buckets full of water any time we needed it for washing up and such. We followed the camping list provided to us by Kathie, and even though we were there the end of July, it still got down to the 40s at night so definitely bring a variety of clothes. Wear layers because it warmed up throughout the day and we just took layers off as we needed. I took about 600 pictures while I was there, and I have some real beauties that I may end up printing and hanging up in my house. The comments I received on FB from posting our memories would support my comments here. I would recommend this trip to anyone who isn't afraid to venture out and do some tent camping without all the electronics. We had an outdoor bathroom type shelter and it suited our needs. I'm glad I brought anti-bacterial wipes and lots of clean wipes for sanitary and personal needs. We had deer walk right through camp also, that was super cool. We were sore for 3 days afterwards though, just from riding horses for hours. By day 3 we were much more confident riding over the more treacherous sections of the mountains. It looks super simple watching people in the movies go up and down a mountain but when it's you, you'll pucker up a little. I don't think smaller children would do well on this trip simply do to that reason, but teens would be fine. My 8 year old daughter would not have done well and so passing that along here for you all to decide. This was a bucket list going into it and now that we're all done, we're looking back on it as one of the coolest experiences we've ever done. We would outfit with this company again for the other trips they do.

Amazing once in a lifetime experience! I booked a hunt with White Cloud Outfitters for 2023, about a year and a half out, on the recommendation of a close friend. Jerrod, Jenni and Kathi were great from the beginning communicating everything needed for my hunt. They even worked with me when my friend backed out due to a health issue. Everyone was helpful and friendly when I showed up.
My guide, Moses, was the best. A true professional, hardworking, knowledgeable, tireless, relentless but still friendly. Moses worked his butt off to get me in range a great deer and did most of the work caping and quartering afterwards. Moses took me farther and higher every day looking to put me on a good buck when the weather didn't cooperate. He tailored my hunt to my abilities and desire. Like hunting with a good friend, maybe better. Worth every dollar, especially when you consider out of state license/tag (without points or draw), lodging, food, horses and a top quality guide who knows the area. Not a hunt for your first hunt, the faint of heart or for someone in poor health. However, if you are looking to actually hunt trophy animals in some of the most beautiful and rugged country around, I believe White Cloud Outfitters delivers. The best people, hunting and country!
