This place deserves negative stars if it was possible to do so. My father was sent there for temporary care and therapy to help him recover and come back home. First, the staff would not let us see him and any type of form, blaming Covid, when at least other sites offered visitation with proper tests, masks, and cleanliness; of course. They would not let anyone come see him and told us the best they could do was bring him to a window to see us and even when we showed up for that, they wouldn't let us see him. I've gone back and forth with the staff there to make sure his needs were being met, and they failed time after time. We were reduced to only being able to Face time him once a week for a short time period. One night, they casually called me to tell me that he stopped breathing and was being sent to the hospital but wouldn't tell me which one. I had him on paperwork that specifically stated that he was not to be resuscitated, per his wishes, and they did it anyway! I had to search each hospital that night before finding him and having to have the hospital end their resuscitation efforts bc it was not communicated to them that he was not to be resuscitated. As far as I'm concerned, I lost my father because of them because they would never be fully transparent about what was going on and my father himself pleaded with me to get him out of there and he was always in his right state of mind until the very end. They even tried to stop us from wanting to go to the area where he was when he stopped breathing and just met us in the lobby with his belongings instead. The final insult came when they called to settle the EMS ride, and when I told her that he died, she paused and joked, "Well, I guess we won't be collecting that one then?"and gave a small laugh. I would have punched her in her damn face right then and there for such incredible disrespect to someone I literally just lost while under their care. I hope this place burns down, and those involved with my dad's handling meet their own end by the likes of people just as shallow and uncaring as they were. As far as I'm concerned, they killed my father, and I'll never forgive them.

EXCELLENT care given to my brother with dementia/Down’s syndrome. I was so scared bc I’d never left him before but we needed some respite time. The staff was wonderful to him and us. He was kept clean, well fed, attended too in a most caring way. I couldn’t ask for any better and will be taking him back for respite care in the future. Each one showed love to him and I am forever grateful.

I would prefer to give them ZERO stars. My father was in this facility in March 2023 for 2 weeks. We pulled him out as soon as we found he was not getting help eating and not having water provided. He is blind and needs assistance. The worse care possible is provided at place. I asked and asked for the plan of care and for invoices so I could file insurance claim. They ignored my many, many requests. Now, a whole 9 months later I get a call from the business office about "balance owed." I asked for a detailed invoice and plan of care. They claim they have this...and they claim they will send it. They should be fined or closed. I would not put a dog I did not like here.

I wish I could give this place Zero stars. Friday I dropped my 90 yr old blind Mother with Dementia in this place which was suppose to be for 5 days. Saturday I had to return because I forgot to bring one of her medications. When I went into my Mothers room I found her in bed with the same clothes on from the previous day with her diaper full of pee soaked. Her toilet was not working because it was clogged. I spoked to the nurse on duty that day she responded by saying that she will let maintenance know about the toilet. She told me my mom was being difficult with the staff that’s why she wasn’t change. Unacceptable! I returned back on Sunday to check on my mother found her laying covered in her own vomit half naked bathroom still plugged. Her Nurse name was Stephanie. Stephanie primary commitment is definitely not to her patients they are not her primary concern. Stephanie failed to take care of my blind mother with dementia hygiene, failed to make sure she had a sanitary and immediately available toilet and failed to meet the accepted standards of nursing competence. Stephanie the nurse on duty for my mother should not be taking care of patients or even continue nursing. Obviously she is not committed to taking care of her patients she just neglects them especially if they are difficult.

Our son had a stroke and heart attack. He was at Thunderbolt for rehab. The administrator went far and above what anyone could have asked to make his stay as easy as possible. Our son was pleased with the majority of help. Of course, there were a few employees who were there only for a pay check. There was never any physical harm but a few time when a lack of respect was shown. Each time it was reported to the administrator, he said he would take care of it. He always called us back (plus always accepted our calls) with a report. He interceded for us to get the insurance to cover the days of care after they had refused further payments. He was at the door today to see that our son got off safely. We are in MN and unable to be there. It was good to know that he cared. I wish him and the good staff persons the very best and hope they continue to try and make Thunderbolt Transitional Care a pleasant place to stay. Thank you!

I would give zero stars if I could. My grandmother was placed here after she broke her hip and required rehab outside of the hospital. These were the absolute worst days of her life. There was one day that my mother in law was there with her (I was working in Maine at the time) and she called me to tell me my grandmother needed to be changed. She hit the call bell, after some time someone popped their head in and said someone would be in there soon. Call bell again, nothing. My mother in law went to the nurse’s station, they said someone would be there soon. 4 hours later, when I was informed of all of this, I called the nurse’s station where the person I spoke to was extremely rude and said “I will get the girl in there.” So finally after over 4 hours, she was changed. This is so incredibly unacceptable, I don’t care how understaffed you are. The facilities are horrid, there are patients screaming the entire time. My grandmother actually said to me “I will die before I ever go back there.” What a disgusting excuse for a healthcare facility. On top of all that, my grandmother said that the healthcare workers were very rough with her, knowing how much pain she had with moving. She said they did not make her feel safe at all and were mean to her. The only good part of this entire place were two young men that were aides I believe. I wish I knew their names so they could be commended. I am writing this almost a year after my grandmother was in there so I can’t remember. But these two young men were very good to my grandmother, treated her with respect, and were gentle with her. Unfortunately, 2 wonderful employees cannot make a place like this run smoothly. If there is anything in your power that you can do to keep your loved ones out of this place, I ask you, do it. In my grandmother’s memory (she passed away this year) I ask you to try to avoid this place. It is one of the saddest, most neglectful places I’ve ever experienced.

Typical nursing facility working and doing their best to keep their heads above water. New administrator and admissions director. They go beyond to help in anyway they can. Super friendly and very nice and they are working diligently to try and get the facility back to good working order. They are hiring and working as quickly as they can to make the necessary changes for the nursing facility to grow and meet the needs of the residents.
The nurses are nice and have been efficient overall. Naturally everyone is just not nice and may not go beyond but their there working and I'll say doing their best. Others go beyond and are extremely nice, friendly and do a great job.
Any request made and they do their best to correct the problem or issue. The best food I have seen in a nursing facility myself. And of course the best view ever. I'm sure they will continue to update clean freshen everything up as they can but like always it takes time and workers people just don't want to work today it's so hard. I hope my next review in 30 days will continue to improve as the facility does. My mother is pleased with being there and I've even suggested moving her to another facility and she said no she was happier there as anywhere she could be. That alone says everything to me. She loves the view the size of the facility not tight and cramped and she has a voice if she doesn't like something she lets them know. I cannot wait to see where they are within another six months I'm hoping for the workers and administration everyone can see the hard work they are all doing. I hope my next star can be a five.

I was looking for a place to place my aunt. During our tour I watch as administrators talk trash about the patients. I saw multiple roaches. The facility smelled like pee as if they were neglecting their residents. They were elusive about credentials. So people who are not adequately trained are “taking care” of your loved ones. I wouldn’t send my worse enemy here. After leaving this facility I learned one patient died in a closet and wasn’t found for days.
