En un pueblo tan bonito como Bar Harbor un sitio donde comimos muy muy bien. El lobster roll nos hizo llorar de lo rico que estaba. También comimos carne, ambos platos con patatas artesanas. Todo muy muy rico.
El servicio es bueno, te da la impresión que todo el pueblo come allí.

My husband & I asked about the portion size of the lunch Seafood Platter because we wanted to split it to save $$. When we asked the waitress about 2 people splitting it, she told us, "It is the biggest item on our menu."
Well, the lunch size Seafood Platter is small! We EACH had 2 scallops, 3 shrimp, 5 fried clams, I had 1 haddock bite & my husband had 2 haddock bites. Unfortunately, we still ended up having to order a 2nd meal to split! This was our lunch & supper as we are visiting Bar Harbor region for a special occasion.

The seafood is delicious, but the servings are TINY for $30, and the number of Seafood items weren't even in number for easy splitting.
We also ordered the Grilled Chicken Cheddar Bacon burger w/ coleslaw. The grilled chicken was overcooked & dry. The bun, bacon, & melted cheddar weren't delicious. The coleslaw is zingy.
Our waitress was very attentive, professional, & personable.
The atmosphere is fun & comfortable, but if you are sensitive to noise, beware. The walls & ceilings are all tin & the floor is wood, so there's nothing to help absorb all the overhead music & voices.
Our total check was $72 before tip.

Waited for quite some time for seat, finally got two at the bar. Ordered two lobster rolls, very tasty. Lobster bisque tasted better than the clam chowder. Service was good too. But still a bit overpriced.

The competition for lobster rolls is stiff in this town, so let me break down our full experience at Thirsty Whale. 🐳

🦞 Lobster roll was competitively priced, but note they only serve Maine style (cold). A fellow traveler said it was the best they had in town, but I ended up skipping since there wasn't an option to get fries and chowder. The blackened haddock was excellent and so were the oysters 🦪. The chowder was disappointing, with almost no clams and I overheard the next table bringing this up with the waitress, too. She suggested it was a regional style 😅 Ah, yes, that region where they like clam chowder without too many clams getting in the way.

🍺 Solid drink menu, good iced tea. Very pleasant staff.

❗ We came on a day when the cruise ship was in town and Bar Harbor was packed. Because the Thirsty Whale is back away from the main drag, it was considerably less busy.

We stopped here for a quick bite after hiking in Acadia on a Monday in mid-November. We sat at the bar but there were plenty of seats open and tables open for seating. We waited a bit for the bartender but once acknowledged we were served pretty quickly. We had a couple beers and some food. The atmosphere was casual. Prices were reasonable. We weren’t here too long, maybe an hour if that because we had somewhere to go. I imagine they get busy during the summer months.

We got into Bar Harbor super late and questioned what would be open. To our surprise we stumbled onto this place. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles and great drinks. It was a cool wood filled pub. Even though the place was packed with people the service was amazing and the food was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend the Ruben. We will definitely be back.

The food options at Thirsty Whale Tavern allowed for a lot of customization in terms of side and sauces for every entree. The 6oz lobster rolls were filled to the BRIM but it was quite pricey compared to other lobster rolls nearby. The pasta salad side was not great and the service was not the best (the food took insanely long to come out but I understand it was very busy that night). But the fried clams were so insanely tasty that it was almost worth the wait.
