I’ve been in the city since 2019 of September . When we first moved out here we had ridiculous bills of over 400 and at the time we had no fridge , stove , washer and dryer . Make that make sense . We mentioned it and put pressure then as we got those appliance it started being reasonable for our household size . Now in a 2 bedroom with small babies the utilities have sky rocketed and in all honesty we don’t even touch the thermostat anymore it stays on off . My bill has magically increased again. I have no washer nor dryer, one electric heater and one tv . I’m a natural light user during the day and at night I use lamps so I’m beyond confused . It’s like they pick whose bill will increased and who bill is reasonable . The only reason I haven’t moved is because my child enjoys the school he’s in but, this is beyond ridiculous. A when I mentioned something about my bill again for me to be told it’s right because of what I used last year is Ludacris. I have all receipts if anyone cares to see the pattern I do .

I moved to Hogansville in September 2021 & never had a problem o/o my utilities. Why? Because I did what I was suppose to. It's real simple. The only problem I have is finding food banks down here. It's like they don't exist or people down here say we don't want/need them. Well, where ever u go there's always gonna be that one person who needs a hand up. Imj👍

Stay away from this city. This city HATES the poor. I live alone in a 2 bedroom house and my power bill is greater than $400. But every year the rates go higher and higher. My rent was $500 and my power bills were $400. I lived alone, I worked 12 hrs a day, and I also had no major appliances. Didnt even have a TV or a fridge.

I don't know who the snide city worker who responded to my review is, but don't be fooled. Hogansville hates the poor. When you raise rates every year to fund things such as decorations down town you send a clear message to your struggling citizenry.

FYI
I have moved into a house in LaGrange and my power bill last month was only $170. THATS how bad Hogansvilles utilities are. They ought to be ashamed. But they arent.. as you can see they are ready to go online and belittle the poor..

I am having major conflict with our landlord regarding utilities. I believe the lady helping me from City of Hogansville is Lisa. She has gone above and beyond to help me fight this fight. She sees it as I do, unfair. She has gone out of her way today to make calls for me to see how she can be helpful. I am very appreciative of the kind and respectful customer service I have received today.

Horrible service horrible employees horrible city. If you are thinking about moving to this city i strongly suggest that you do not. The utility company is ran by the city. The city officials obviously make the laws. They charge a percentage for using credit cards. If you are late you are charged a percentage and a $30 fee. When it is a bad storm the lights cut off. There are times where there the water is cut off or is brown. You are given no warning or that there is a water boiling warning. Funny how the areas that have the most water problems is the majority black side of hogansville. With all the fees they charge for utilities, it is enough to upgrade their utilities so there are no problems, but of course the money is going into the city officials pockets. Seeing that there are so many issues, you would think that the utility company would be a bit more flexible and not over charge but they have a monopoly so they will screw people as long and as deep as they can.

City of Hogansville seems to be continuing to improve customer service and city amenities. It's continuing to grow as more businesses are coming to town after the decline during the GFC. I agree utilities are high but housing cost and rent is lower than many other areas. Newnan is a traffic nightmare and Lagrange is another 20 minutes south.

There is good and bad , positive and negative with any place you live. Hogansville is a great place with friendly neighbors and plenty of opportunities to get involved with the community. Become involved, volunteer and vote in local elections if you want change.

Friendly staff but didn't get my Utilities bill till late in the month after moving here. I'm from Pennsylvania and never had to pay for a bill this way by going to a "city hall" to set it up and pay for it. I got my bill around the twenty second of the month and came in the pay it right away with the amount in hand. They charge a percentage for paying with card, and you cannot pay online. I handed the staff behind the glass alittle over what I "owed" expecting change back, only go get none. Apparently because I didn't come in and pay before the tenth it was late, even though I didn't get my bill till the twenty second, this gave me a late fee of 48 dollars! This place is a freaking scam, trying to squeeze money from you any way they can. It's a shame Hogansville is such a nice place to live, but the electricity bill and horrible practices of the City Hall ruin living here!
