Tahiti iti pearl farm - Taiʻarapu-Ouest

My husband and I recently visited the Tahiti Iti Pearl Farm and had an excellent experience! Our hosts did an amazing job explaining all about how pearls are produced on the farm and also about Tahitian culture. Our group included French and English speaking guests so our hosts divided us into 2 groups to explain about the pearl production. This really helped keep us engaged for the entire session.
It was so exciting to watch our pearls being opened and see what color/size we would find inside.
The lunch they prepared for us was delicious. We had traditional Fish Cru and Firi Firi along with other types of fish.
This experience was definitely worth the price.

Une journée exceptionnelle et inoubliable sur la ferme perlière avec une superbe équipe
On en apprend énormément sur l'histoire de la perle et sur sa production. Ils sont passionnés et ça se ressent .. ?
La ferme est positionnée sur un site remarquable, nous pouvons plonger et aller à la rencontre des poissons via le ponton, se balader en kayak tout autour. Le midi, le cuisto a préparé un bon ma'a, cela nous a donné de l'énergie pour aller chercher notre perle ?
Et pour clôturer la journée en beauté, il est possible de monter sa perle sur un bijou, je repars avec un superbe collier avec des perles que j'ai pêchées, le rêve ... ?

J'ai récemment visité la ferme perlière à Tahiti et je ne peux que recommander cette expérience unique et magique ! Nous avons été accueillis avec une bienveillance incroyable par le gérant, qui est non seulement plein d'humour, mais aussi d'un savoir impressionnant sur les perles et la vie marine !

Apprendre sur la culture des perles tout en les voyant de près a été un moment inoubliable. C'est un endroit où l'on ressort avec le sourire aux lèvres et des souvenirs plein la tête.

Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Tahiti, and go before you start buying pearls!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! This tour is run by a family that cares a lot about pearls and oysters, you can feel that they are passionate about sharing their knowledge of pearls with everyone! Not only are they very knowledgeable, but they are great story tellers, making the learning part fun! We learned SO much about the pearls which completely changed for me which pearls I would shop for later during our trip.

After your learn all about the pearls, you have some time to swim around the floating hut where you will find protected reefs and a variety of beautiful fish. They also fed us honestly the BEST MEAL we had in Tahiti!! The freshest poison cru made right in front of us, grilled tuna, chicken and pasta salad.

Then at the end of the tour you pick your oyster out of the water and they will open it and give you a beautiful pearl! Even though these pearls may not be A grade, we thought they were beautiful and honestly far more meaningful to us than any other pearl we bought in Tahiti.

It was a great experience!

We learned a lot about pearls, especially how mother nature makes them and how to farm them. We dove and picked our oysters, which adds an element of excitement. You don't know what kind of pearl you get until it is removed. We got a silver one and black one with slightly different sizes. They were also able to help us make the pearls into earrings in Papeete before we had to fly back to the US as well!

The food was amazing! I could have eaten more but I wanted to snorkel more so I limited myself to two plates. The area is great for snorkel because it had a lot of fishes. I even saw a shark, aka security.

My wife is super happy with her pearls. She is so proud that her husband dove for them and has been wearing them daily!

this was a great experience. this is a local, family operated pearl farm and they have a passion for teaching you all about oysters and the pearl process. we visited a larger pearl farm on another island and learned a fraction of what we learned at Tahiti Iti.

and this is more than just a pearl farm experience. you get to spend time kayaking, snorkeling or just relaxing. they teach you how to make poisson cru and then eat a delicious lunch. we learned how to blow in the conch and also got tahitian dance lessons.

and top it off with a dive to choose an oyster and then take home the pearl from inside. really special day with super friendly folks.
