Each month, ladies from our resort gather for lunch at a restaurant. Square 1 in The Villages, Florida, was the location for December.

30 friends gathered for a 1:00 pm lunch. Although the coordinator had requested a long table so everyone could be seated together, that did not happen. However, we all were seated on the same area in the busy restaurant at booths for 8 and 4-tops.

Our drinks order was taken quickly. In retrospect, we should have placed our food order at the same time since we waited both a long time to place our order and for the food to arrive. We had plenty to talk about, though, while waiting.

Square 1 has an interesting cow theme with elegant chandelier lighting.

We liked the option of having half or full-sized salads. The half portion salads were just enough. The ingredients were fresh and the chicken on my Mediterranean Chicken Salad was tender, served with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I was hoping for something a little more seasoned.

The restaurant accommodated us with individual checks. I would go back to try one of their signature burgers and onion rings.

My husband and I were hesitant to stop in based on some of the reviews. Long story short, we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted at the front door by the hostess and seated right away (lunch time). Shortly after we were seated, our server came and took our drink order and explained the menu since we hadn't been in before. The owner was working his way around the restaurant, greeting patrons and delivering food to tables in between. We both ordered burgers (1 med, 1 med well) and they were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was great and all of the staff was friendly. We will be back! (Photo doesn't do justice)

Our group of 11 dropped in for lunch. Our waiter, Kyle, was absolutely awesome. He was prompt, courteous, took all of our orders and delivered them all correctly and to the right person. He checked on us, but wasn't overbearing. When he brought our individual checks, again he was polite and delivered the checks to each person correctly. He took care of cash and credit cards promptly. Our food was delicious, but the service was spectacular!!

Come on down to have the best food around, Square 1 Burgers and Bar won't just blow you away with their food but also the impeccable service you will receive! Personally I eat at the bar with the best bartender of all Gerri for all my visits however there is wonderful table atmosphere as well and these employees really take care of the customers and will have you leaving full and satisfied EVERY VISIT!

Suggestion: try the X-rated grilled cheese with bacon it's WONDERFUL

I give them 5/5 only because I can't rate them higher!! 🙂

The burger was delicious, they even cooked it medium rare. Swapped out fries for these fresh made onion rings and all with the help of an efficient, pleasant and all-around happy server (Tasha). A great experience, we'll be back to try the fish specials.

My husband and I have been wanting to stop by this burger joint for a while now. Today we decided to go and I was highly disappointed. I ordered a burger with pepper jack cheese, well done. The presentation was nice but the burger was not what I expected. The patty was bland, as if they took the ground beef made a patty and off it went. No seasoning at all. I had to add lots of salt. The middle of my burger was pink, which I left on the plate. The fries must of come from a bag of old frozen fries. They were not tasty at all and must of been sitting in the back waiting for me. Our server was a nice sweet young lady she deserves the four stars. My husband said his burger was “good.”
We have decided not to go back this place.

Can't say the food was bad but it is nothing special. Service was ok not great but not bad either. Just average. Atmosphere is weird in my opinion. Not sure how to explain it. In one corner of the restaurant there are booths with cow hide red curtains and red chandeliers. I told my wife it looks like a western brothel. If I had friends invite me to go there I would join them but I will not be returning on my own because there is nothing special about the place. It is just average and average is not what I want when I go out.
