The pictures online were slightly deceiving. I thought this was an upscale type place because of the pics and the prices but the place was dirty (crumbs on a lot of the tables that were cleared already and gloves and rags on one table), they already ran out of food after 1.5 hrs of opening due to a party from the previous night (so we were told), and the food is way over priced for something I wouldn't return for.
The oxtail eggrolls were good, but there was barely any meat in it. They cut the eggrolls in half, and I had 1 eggroll with meat on one side only.
I ordered the snapper and grits. The "snapper" was very salty and I dont think it was snapper. Usually snapper has some red lines in it from the skin but i didn't see any of that.
I also didn't like that during brunch you can only order from the brunch menu because that menu was sparse, and I almost didn't order anything.
However, the presentation was nice. The server did her best with the crowd that was there.

The absolute worst! If I could give it 1 star I would. I ordered the lamb chops, with a side of shrimp, mash & cabbage. I never received the shrimp. The lamb was cooked above well done when I ordered it medium rare. The food was completely not edible. Mind you this was ordered via door dash, so I spent over $80 for this meal that I was not able to eat! I am very upset, disturbed & feel as if this business need to take a lesson from others who are more established. Don’t overcharge and under deliver smh!

Spice House is a more upscale Caribbean restaurant. its not a hole in the wall. The ambiance is good and the service somewhat reflects.The prices do reflect as well. However they do an excellent job as far as flavor. I have been this location numerous times. The food Never disappoints. The service is so so.

Update: i done been back 5 times for the creole turkey wing plate. i dont even like turkey like that, but its my favorite thing on the menu.

First off sorry for my late picture, because the food looked so good I forgot to take pictures before digging in. But with that being said this was my very first visit here. The greeting was so sweet and calm. I was able to pick my comfy seating. And it was a perfect spot. The atmosphere for treating myself to dinner, was very satisfying. The vibe with the neo soul/Caribbean music was a great selection. Now on to my server Fatima was also my host to seat me. When serving me , I let her know I was new to this place. She made sure to give me her favorite appetizers, entrees, and desserts along with great cocktails that compliments the dishes. She was very helpful and pleasant. She made sure to bring out quality dishes. While keeping a clean environment and helping others. Overall the cleanliness was a 10/10 I constantly seen employees cleaning the floors and keeping areas free of debris and trash. I would say the cleanliness make the restaurant even more beautiful. I would definitely be back and. Enjoy other events they have as well coming back to be service by my favorite Fatima. Thanks so much Spice House for making my experience very memorable and nice and peaceful. This place is 5mins from my home a perfect hideaway for self care dinner for me and great drinks oh the rum punch is a definitely smash hit. So no matter the other possible negative views try it out for yourself because I did see those views before arriving and it was not at all how it was told here. For myself i absolutely love this place and service Thanks Fatima for your patience during my visit and helping me with the perfect dishes to try. You definitely are the best and I enjoyed you ill be back to see you Queen

I can't speak to the dine-in experience. I ordered takeout. Can't really speak to the atmosphere since I was only in there long enough to have my food handed to me. I was greeted and tended to pretty much right away. Was not busy (Monday)

Anyway,
I ordered the oxtail dinner:
double white rice, cabbage and sweet plantains. $49.06

I immediately suspected that these are the frozen, boxed grocery store Goya plantains. I feel some typa way about that even tho i enjoyed them.

The rice has a strong taste of freezer burn. Drowning it in the oxtail gravy probably would've made it unnoticeable, but I'm not someone who cares much for sauces on my rice, so i trashed it.

The cabbage is seasoned very differently from any other Caribbean restaurant/cook I've had before and I dig it a lot.

The oxtail was plentiful and well seasoned, though a bit tough, which I suspect is from overcooking. Something else about it that I can't articulate makes me think it wasn't fresh either. I wondered if it was made a day or so ago and reheated, which could explain my suspicion about being tough from overcooking.

My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary. Wasn’t that packed on Sunday around 3PM. We started off with the oxtail egg rolls, I didn’t like them so much but my wife loved them.(couldn’t really taste the oxtail). My wife got the Shrimp and Grits while I got the Salmon Croquet, I ended up eating my wife’s food because the gravy on the grits were so good. Salmon Croquet was good but I just liked the Shrimp and Girts more. Food was flavorful so we will be going back.

I would leave 0 stars if it was possible. My family and I visited this location on 9/10/2024 to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. We ordered 3 tropical glazed salmon and received 3 dry and overcooked Salmon with no glaze. We ordered tacos 1 shrimp and 1 jerk chicken, they arrived sloppy and soggy with barely any filling on the inside. The vegan pasta was room temperature and the side of salmon ordered with it was dry and overcooked! We were extremely disappointed and felt like we were forced to eat the food due to the house rules that were visible on the table. We were forced to pay 18% gratuity for poor food quality, room temperature food, and misrepresentation of menu items. They ruined our birthday cake that we gave them to store for us until we were ready to sing happy birthday. My daughter did not bother to cut the cake at this point. She had an unhappy experience and we would never visit this restaurant again! The manager on staff gave a 7% discount for the 3 Salmon dishes that did not have glaze on it. I’m frustrated with this resolution because the highlight of this dish is the glaze! No compensation for the other issues we were faced with. I would like a complete refund for the terrible experience! We chose this place to celebrate and they failed to deliver!
