Love Spa Fjor for my appointments with Melissa. Melissa is always welcoming and so kind. She always asks if I have any concerns and listens carefully when I explain an issue. She offers advice and even walks out to go over products I may find helpful. When checking in the staff is friendly and so pleasant. The spa is calming and peaceful, the robes are lovely and the amenities offered are perfect. As a side note- It would be wonderful if there were a small shower in the Facial Room to use quickly before exiting to the public area. Overall my last two years have been a true pleasure. Really appreciate the valet parking, the staff in The Cafe are delightful and often I have breakfast or lunch in the restaurant. The staff is friendly and the menu has wonderful choices. Always look forward to “spa day”

The overall experience was alright but easily could have been much better.

As an initial matter, the environment is not nearly as tranquil as most spas. It is much too brightly lit and there is not the sense of cleansing air that permeates most spas. Further, the chairs in the waiting area could be more comfortable and even heated.

More importantly, the inordinate time required to heat the water in the men’s locker room seems highly avoidable. The attendant turned it on for me when escorting me into the locker room, but it was barely tolerable after running while I put my clothes in the locker. The water was fine after being allowed to run much longer after my treatment.

I enjoyed my massage, but it went so quickly that it did not feel that it lasted 80 minutes. The masseur covering the clock in the room prevented verifying that. I minimally think that the clock started running the moment that I stepped in the room.

The disappointment that prompted submitting this review relates to a credit-card system that prevented receiving an expected benefit from a purchase. I discussed this with the spa, which would not do anything about this.

I loved my perfect experience with the hotel itself and look forward to returning. But for the small amount at issue with the spa, I would return there for services even as part of a day trip.

I now will explore the spa literally across the street and the many other such places in town for future treatments.

Called with questions looking to book for a girls day, and Jaime was beyond helpful on giving us all the information we need to enjoy the day. When it came to best time to book, nearby attractions and dining she seemed to know it all! We are looking forward to our visit this Spring! Thanks Jaime!

Booked a treatment the night before we planned to checkout from the hotel. In the morning we decided it was pushing us too close to our leaving time so we called to cancel and they THEN told us we couldn't cancel b/c it is within 48 hrs. All it takes is a simple statement during booking saying just to let you know this is within our cancellation time so this will be nonrefundable. In the end after very rude service I had to go down there and she finally refunded us but made us pay the 20% service charge still (which I am fine with). I am not gone with her sarcastic laughtee about it all like "that's when you weren't able to come" even though we had to rearrange our entire morning so we could go down there in person to deal with this since she wouldn't answer on the phone. Told the hotel as well and they didn't care. Simple fix. Disclose your policies. I called, I obviously didn't look on website! Terrible service and ugly spa anyway

My husband and I were really looking forward to a couples massage at Spa Fjor this past week and left early from Boston to start our 2-days in Newport with a 10am massage. Check in was friendly and the facility was small but very impressive (nice music, changing rooms, candles, vibe). We were in the waiting room when the two staff members (two older women, forgot their names) that would do our massages abruptly came in and both seemed either annoyed or agitated in a weird way and told us to follow them. Once the massage started it felt rushed and half-hearted. There was no pressure but I didn't want to complain because she had already rolled her eyes at me when I got in her way while entering the small room with our tables, so I tried to just enjoy it as 50 minutes of relaxation but even that was hard. The music being played stopped every few minutes (the entire time) as if it was on someones phone and constant texts were coming through (?) so that was annoying. I didn't expect her to keep touching my hair with her oiled hands which left me feeling (and looking) gross the rest of the day until we could get in our rooms and shower. We paid extra for hot stones and I was disappointed to realize it just meant her briefly having hot rocks in her hands that were rubbed over me quickly..not sure what I was expecting but that wasn't it. I would have been able to get past ALL of that if the woman doing it didn't seem annoyed by me the whole time, or as if she didn't want to be there, which made me feel super uncomfortable. I was hoping my husband was having a better experience but he was also very disappointed in the quality of his massage. It was a bummer because the last time we had a couples massage was 22 years ago so we were excited to book this little luxury. I hate leaving bad reviews but felt this was a negative enough experience that I would want to know if I was considering booking a treatment at Spa Fjor.

Had a wonderful facial here. However, I was not happy about the automatic gratuity. I would have actually tipped more than the automatic amount, but was not given the chance. What if my service was just so-so? What if it was not good at all? That's the point of gratuity, it should match your experience. I know what the argument is...it assures that jerks don't get a great massage or whatever and then give $5 bucks. But it's not my job to see that the staff is fairly compensated. It's the spa's. The gratuity is extra.

A+ Service and Spa treatments. I had the Seasonal Renewal treatment and the Clarify and Calm facial and both were excepcional. Highly recommend Spa Fjor if you are in Newport and want a relaxing and rejuvenating day.

Absolutely wonderful experience for our first time at the spa in celebration of a 30th birthday. Susan was an incredible masseuse and the entire staff was so lovely!
