Honestly DSS is a joke. Foodstamps go based on "gross" even though that isn't what you take home.. wierd. Most of the people in the office are rude as hell and could quite honestly care less on what you need. I don't know who makes the rules in this place but I do know they need to go back to school. So thank you at the fact that people can't feed themselves and their children cause their NOT!!! TAKE HOME PAY!!! is too much. How stupid are you? Congratulations you make 1,100 gross and bring home 900 guess what after rent and car payment tpu got 200 for 2 weeks and you think that's enough to feed 3 people and have gas to get to work? So dumb I swear.

Very slow. Been waiting for over a week. I have to literally go on a wild goose chase to get anyone to respond to simple questions
This is the absolute worst DSS office ever. I sent in paperwork and they called me after a week of me hassling them telling me that I sent them the documents but they can’t read the documents but they never reached out to let me know they couldn’t . I resent them my documents multiple times and turns out I need a different document all together that I now have to go pick up from the office or wait in the mail

Employees that work here falsify receipts. Then when you call them you get rude receptionist and they give you a big run around tell you to call Anderson. Call Anderson get the same thing. They tell you to call Columbia. Call Columbia and still get the same thing. I just want my $115.63 that they over charged me by falsifying receipts during a global pandemic. I could’ve used that $115.63 to buy my 3 small children food, pull ups, anything. But no, Newberry DSS falsified receipts and now I’m over charged original amount.

Receptionist was SO RUDE! I needed help with finding a form that was on the wall and she would not get off her tuchas to help. I recently had eye surgery so my vision is a bit off and she was aware of this. Is she paid a wage to do anything other than raise her voice and point? Rather humiliating.

I got to see our grandbabies and my son got to see his kids after being kept away by mother for 1 1/2 years and that the mother had kept from of for over a year and now BC dss didn't take severe enough when the grandparents were concerned BC of seeing lewd acts dss said it wasn't severe enough to check out but a month later they were took BC of severity so if they'd just listened these poor kids wouldn't be going thru what they are NOW!!! Some need to take their jobs more seriously and at least see where the child is loved most BC that is the best benefit they end up with in the end with all this mess!!
