We have been coming to the Maine coast for a long long time and I can honestly say, this place is a Maine Memory Maker! The hosts, Jay, Cash and Keewee were spectacle - we felt like we had our very own private resort - they were so accommodating especially since this was an off season reservation. We had a beautiful view from our room - saw loons and an amazing sunset. Had a delish breakfast overlooking the water and loved our little balcony. The room was comfy and the beds were perfect. We were so happy to have found this place and will be back. The east booth bay location was perfect as well.

Stopped here for 2 nights while visiting Boothbay Harbor. Chose a room on the pier over the water, and the views of the bay were incredible. Rooms are small, but clean and seem recently refurbished. Kayaks are available for use, with a place for a bonfire by the water in the evenings. Plenty of selections for breakfast, and dinner was great. A bit of a drive into town, but worth it for the seclusion. Added bonus of seeing the northern lights from our balcony!

Great location and balcony with amazing view. Comfortable bed, room has small refrigerator and coffeemaker. Basic bathroom without shelf’s or flat area to put toiletries. Paper thin walls so expect to hear your neighbors, we certainly did. Bring earplugs if you do not wish to. Great breakfast buffet served at restaurant. Has pool and canoes as well.

What a prefect stay in the Boothbay area! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and homey. We stayed in the Pier building that overlooks the harbor. Nice balcony. Breakfast is included in the stay, which had good variety! We also went to their restaurant for dinner, which was tasty as well. Unfortunately, we came on a rainy day so we did not get to try our their lounge chairs that also overlooks the harbor. However, the next day before we left we did get to see the views from the restaurant and it's stunning! I'll definitely be back and will recommend Smuggler to any friends traveling through.

This is one of the best hotel I have ever stayed at, I made a big mistake while booking and the owner were kind enough to fix the issue i created. But beside that the views in this place are amazing, and the breakfast is the real deal, not a continental breakfast but a real one. I have also never seen owners have more hats, they are all over the place making sure everything is running great. I will be back hopefully when it is a little warmer so i can take advantage of all their water activities.

My Wife and I came for a long weekend towards the end of August. Rooms, although recently updated were standard. 2 queen beds in our case. Not overly comfortable, but adequate. A/C worked well. Every employee we encountered was very nice and personable. Several were summer help.
Very happy with the included breakfast. The restaurant was very good, the selection and quality of dishes were above expectation.
The location was beautiful! The view from the room over the water was incredible. Sitting on Adirondack chairs having a drink by the water at sunset was the pinnacle of the trip.

Don't be fooled by the pictures of this hotel like we were. We were in the pet free building that juts out over the water. The bedroom area seemed updated and clean but the bathroom was soooo tiny and not well maintained. You had to lug your suitcase from the car to the room and it wasn't even a fully paved walkway to wheel your suitcase. there were dogs running around with no leashes, which I am not a fan of. The free breakfast was nice, more than i thought it would be but the "restaurant" where they had breakfast looked like no one cleaned it from the night before. The woman working didn't speak much English which made it tough to communicate. I am not sure how this hotel was rated so high. the pictures show a beautiful beach but when we got there it was covered with wood and seaweed couldn't even see sand. In Aruba they clean that so the guests can use the beach, this was far from Aruba. We had an issue with the room and requested leaving after one night which they agreed to but then when we were charged they changed their tune about us not paying for the day we left. We had an electrical issue and they said they were going to close the breaker to the room then told us that they were charging us because they couldn't find someone to take the room so late. But if they were shutting the breaker how were they filling the room? After a charge card dispute and a win from the charge card company we received our money back. Save yourself the aggravation and book the Spruce Point Inn. The manager was very angry and changed her story multiple times but even agreed that there was a miscommunication, the problem was the miscommunication was on there end. The told us we could pay for one night and leave what happened after that is their issues not mine. So many other hotel options.

We have stayed here before back in 2013 and decided to stay here again on our trip passing through this year and it was just as nice as it was then. Rooms in the anchor building has been updated and very clean. The breakfast is always top notch and hard to beat. We decided to eat at the bar instead of going back into town and the food was just ok. I had a double cheeseburger with fries and my wife had the New York strip.the steak was very tough and rubbery and had more than usual amount of fat in it. We each ended the meal with some vanilla ice cream and was shocked when we got the bill. It was way overpriced for the quality of the food. The bartender/waitress was so nice and very friendly. We will stay here again but not eat at the bar again
