We are so incredibly frustrated and disappointed. We booked a stay that was supposed to start tonight (Christmas Eve) and last until Friday. We booked NINE MONTHS in advance specifically to ensure that we would be able to have a handicap accessible cabin for my wife who cannot utilize the standard cabin, as she cannot step up the steep steps inside the cabin to get to the bed and bathroom, especially since the last time we tried a standard cabin, she hurt herself terribly trying to do so. I sent a message 48 hours in advance to confirm that we did, in fact, receive a handicap accessible cabin and we were told that we were not able to be accommodated. When I asked why not and for a refund if that was the case, I then received a message saying that we were all set and assigned the accessible cabin. Now, this morning, while already on our way from out of state, we received another message from the manager saying that they had a last minute change on their end and we would not be able to be accommodated. This has completely ruined our Christmas and was so incredibly thoughtless to not have contacted us sooner to let us know. Had I not messaged to double check, we would have arrived on site after hours of driving to THEN find out UPON ARRIVAL that my wife couldn't get in the cabin. This is absolutely unacceptable. So, honestly- stay away. Especially if you require handicap accessibility. It doesn't matter how far in advance you book or how much money you spend. They clearly don't value loyal customers who have spent money to stay with them before and apparently they let their handicapped customers find out upon arrival that they can't use the accommodations. We will never stay again and we will never recommend them again.

This was the most beautiful get away in Connecticut. You are surrounded by the woods, the window views from every cabin is picturesque. The service is impeccable, you can text the crew whatever you need and they deliver it quickly. You are paying top dollar for the quality and the quiet. The privacy is top notch, the cleanliness is up to you. So whether you decide to keep your shoes on or not; the consequences are your responsibility. Respect the comfort and the comfort respects you. Overall, my husband and I are very satisfied with our 3 night getaway in December. We will be returning very soon.

Also, bring a few multi outlet plug ins and a crock pot.
They provide everything else, pots and pans, plates, cutlery.

I had a wonderful stay in my little cabin, with its picturesque, "big-screen" window that made me feel as though I was truly sleeping among nature. The cabin was beautifully wood paneled inside, cozy but tastefully furnished with everything I could possibly need. You really are encouraged to unplug and recharge, so there is no Wi-Fi or TV. I had pre-purchased the campfire wood package, so the wood and wood starters were already set up in the fire pit for me. Be forewarned - nothing is complimentary. From the tea bags to the containers of water in your cabin, everything is available for a fee. I did use the s'mores kit. If you're flexible with your dates and can stay during the week and take advantage of a discount, you can get a very good rate. I would definitely stay here again! I had a very memorable and positive experience.

My husband and I haven’t been away together without our children for 7 years now. We’ve planned on going to CT this coming weekend for our 20th anniversary for months now. We booked a Getaway cabin from this coming Thursday the 24 to Sunday 29th.

A hurricane is coming to our state and the dangerous winds are supposed to hit the day we were going to leave. Therefore we had to postpone or cancel our reservations we made for a getaway cabin and they are charging us $500!

I don’t make the weather. Our airlines understood and have allowed us a voucher for future use. We informed our cabin provider as soon as we saw the weather shift. We gave optimal time for cancellation and you all have been rude and not helpful in the least.

So not only do my husband and I miss out on our celebration of a 20 year marriage, we now have to wait out a storm and protect our home with $500 less in our bank.

We were so excited and now feel taken advantage of.

What a disappointment and example of poor management and heart.

Pros: I loved how far apart the cabins were to each other. It felt so peaceful like we were in our own little world. The big windows in the cabin were picturesque. For a little weekend anniversary trip, it felt great to get out in nature. However….

Cons: I was a little disappointed in the actual cabin because I found mold in the shower, dishes were dirty, sheets were itchy and didn’t feel clean, the knives were dull, the can opener was broken, and the AC would make the cabin smell musty. And those were just the major issues I had. When it comes to cleanliness ZERO stars.

However, I will definitely will Getaway House another try but at a different location.

HANDICAPPED OR DISABLED BEWARE!!!!
We booked a handicap accessible cabin in March 2024, for a magical Christmas in the woods. We were joining up Christmas Eve (our first Christmas married) thru Dec 27. We wanted to be certain that we could get the accessible cabin because my first visit in a standard cabin left me badly bruised and sore from falling off a deep step (15") in the cabin that is very hard to discern. We packed up the dogs and their Christmas dresses and presents and headed up. We sent an email verifying the accessible cabin but hadn't gotten an answer. We stopped for gas and saw an email from Erica, stating that the accessible cabin was NOT available. My spouse emailed Postcard Cabins to say that we were upset and disappointed about not being accommodated after booking 9 months in advance, with them keeping my $1200 to make themselves interest for half a year. She received an email back from Patricia, who apologized and confirmed that we DID have an accessible cabin. In the meantime, Marc, the Manager, was very brusque, saying that Patricia's confirmation was sent before he himself, "had reviewed the situation" (so there IS an accessible cabin that IS free...), and told us that it actually was not available. Apparently they gave it to someone else...when did they book? And doesn't Postcard Cabins use a reservation system, specifying "accessible cabin" that can be RESERVED while they keep your money? Like a hotel What an innovative idea!!! Thanks for ruining Christmas, Marc!
By the way, this is the SECOND time that we were denied an accessible cabin, as we selected during booking and PAYING, for the CT location. Last time however, they did give us the accessible cabin after a few emails back and forth. WHAT IS GOING ON AT THIS PLACE?

Genuinely the most disappointing way to spend our new year. I never leave a bad review unless a business really is out to harm people and this is sadly the case. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!

For context, the booking process failed 3 times on my phone before I went on my laptop to retry the whole thing from scratch, which went through.

Fast forward 1 month later on arrival, I got 2 text messages with instructions to 2 cabins. I thought it was a glitch given how many technical issues I faced during booking. Not to mention upon going to the first cabin, the doorcode didn’t work and the lockbox for the backup key didn’t work so we really thought, hey they’re still figuring things out.

Then on our last day, I found two emails forwarded to me with different confirmation IDs for check out instructions. I checked my credit card to see that they had charged me twice within minutes of each other. I immediately called them to notify this issue and to assure them that we never successfully went through the booking twice and it must be a mistake. We also never visited the second cabin and instead figured out the door problem with onsite staff.

Then the company emailed me a cold reply listing their terms, that it was my fault for not double checking the confirmation email sent to me, that no refund will be given, and that is final.

This was the worst experience end to end. This company made mistakes left and right and then used it as a way to charge me double what I authorized. Now I am down $510 for a cabin I never booked and never used and truly at a loss for why they’re treating people like this.

PLEASE don’t support this company!

Myself and my partner recently celebrated a birthday and anniversary by staying at this Getaway location. I am a very big camper, so I’m very aware of what to expect of nature when camping. We opted for a nicer experience trusting Getaway. We made the most of our visit but were disappointed that all outdoor furniture pieces were covered in spiderwebs (some venomous spiders), something that could’ve just been cleaned off before guest arrive. There was litter upon arrival. The hammock was too dirty to use, which is unfortunate because we look forward to that and paid extra for a room that included this feature. Most importantly, they do not tell you that the ventilation system in the cabin is extremely loud. The little convenience store that they are supposed to have on the premises was empty and looked overgrown as though it has not been open for a while, a service advertised on the website. We did make the most of our stay, but are sad to have had these inconveniences during a very special weekend. To top it all of paid extra for wood to be placed by my cabin and then I got charged to be able to use that wood.
