I recently moved into a trailer park and somebody came into my yard and set a trash pile on fire that was left here by the property manger due to be cleaned up. My neighbors managed to get the fire under control and out out 5 minutes before the fire department showed up. I let the fire fighters know there was no possible way I had set the blaze, had no idea how it happened. I was inside with my 4 young children trying to settling into the house when a frantic knock on my door alerted me to the fact that the front yard was on fire. After everything was settled down I called the Newton county dispatch to tell them I wanted this fire investigated as I now fear for the safety of myself and my 4 small children. The dispatch lady was rude to me about the incident and finally patched me through to the fire chief who ASSURED me that the fire Marshalls would be out today(5/26) to start conducting an investigation into who or what caused the fire. However I've heard nothing from anybody. No phone calls, no one has come by. It's super great to know the officials who are suppose to care for and protect us don't actually have an interest in our well-being.

Last year our house caught on fire. It was around 9pm. As the fire was happening we were trying to wake up our 3 kids and get them out safely. Also being pregnant at the time this was not only scary but the fear of not knowing if we were going to make it out in time was a traumatic situation. My fiance and I got our kids outside and he went back in to wake up our upstairs neighbor and they together put the fire out. My fiance suffered severe burns to his hand and had to be put to sleep for surgery. We were very lucky to make it out. I say all that to say this....when the fire department got there which I want to say was 4 or 5 trucks. Not ONE person asked if we was ok. Our lives just flashed before our eyes and instead of making sure we were ok mentally and physically they instead stood in a group right by us and laughed and had a discussion about who made it there first. They couldn't of been over the age of 25. They were young and seemed like this was the biggest thrill of the month. This was EXCITEMENT to them. We were taken back at the inconsiderate professionalism of this department. The only person who asked if we were ok was the man in the ambulance ONLY because he saw the skin falling off my fiances hands. I was pregnant and could barely breathe while my kids were freaking out. I fear for the people whose lives depend on this department. It was ridiculous and a traumatic moment I will remember forever.
