Don't waste your time. Dr. Ramsey sucks!!! He doesn't care about his patients. He can't have a conversation without his eyes being closed. My physical was nothing more than him listening to my heart and lungs. I asked for medication for my broken hand. His response was 'take ib-profin. Dude!!!! I have a frigging broken hand!!!! Don't you think I've already been doing that!

I have been a patient at Milbridge Medical Center on and off since I was a small child, always selecting “Too Much Popcorn” from the kid’s book center, practicing my reading until a sweet and smiling Elaine Hill would beckon Mum and me to Doc’s office.
That was 36 years ago.
Today I went to Milbridge Med and aside from the faces and the modern technology, it was the same warm and familiar reception, the same professional and exceptional care one has always been able to expect.
I probably don’t need to add that at a time when life is so upside down, the calming comfort of this facility and it’s providers is worth it’s weight in gold.

Thanks to you all for the work you do and the care you put into it!

"DO NO HARM" is not this clinic's mantra: I am a few days shy of 80, with a number of medical issues, including hypertension. I have lived in Maine for some 16 years but only moved here permanently 18 months ago. My primary doctor of many years, in New York, informed me that she can no longer prescribe medication without tests and suggested I find a primary in Maine. I will not give the very long and very sad story of trying to find a primary doctor in Maine and will just focus on Milbridge Medical Center. When I first called for an appointment, a young woman by name of "Deb" told me I would have to come in and fill in some papers. I explained that I have a balance disability, use a cane, and it was snowing, and asked if we could do it over the telephone. She agreed, kindly I first thought, and asked me to have my medical records faxed to the office. NYU, my New York hospital, agreed to do so but then notified me that the Milbridge Fax appeared to be not working and asked me to call and check on the issue, which I did. When I again spoke to Deb and told her that the 15 pages had been rejected, she replied "only 15 pages." I was rather surprised as I thought that 15 was a lot of paperwork. Deb said they needed all my records. Considering my advanced age of 80, I asked "all,", even my eye surgery from the age of ten, my appendix removal, age 29, and gall bladder removal, age 55. Not necessary she replied for the first two but that I had to send record from gall bladder surgery. I said I didn't have records going back that far, and after some discussion she agreed to accept records for last five years (total of 110 pages). She called me the next morning and told me (1) although it was evident that NYU had tried to fax my records, Milbridge didn't receive them, (2) I had to come into their office to fill out forms contrary to her earlier accommodation, (3) submit medical records for ten years, and (4) submit detailed records of all past MRI's. Now I ask, how is it they know I had MRI's yet didn't receive my medical records? And all this because I need to have my Blood Pressure checked. A few minutes ago it was 177/80. It's been going up steadily despite taking my medication, which I will be out of shortly. As I told her, and am writing here, I come from a family with a very long history of stroke and heart attacks: my father, mother, brother, all four grandparents, myriad aunts and uncles and even my nephew at age 40. At my advanced age and medical history I know I need my BP medication increased or changed, yet I have been refused service by this clinic by its issuing what it knows to be impossible demands. Luckily I found another clinic nearer to my home so I may actually get to be 80 (three days from now). I have good insurance but perhaps they think because of my age or that I live in Maine I can't pay. Or because I am soon to be 80, that I might die and they don't want my death on their hands. Whatever the case, I have filed a complaint with all the appropriate regulatory agencies in Maine. If you need medical help I would suggest you look elsewhere. In 2008 I visited this clinic with my late husband. He was diagnosed after three visits with acid reflux and when it did not improve we returned to New York but by then his pancreatic cancer had spread and he died a few months later. So much for the diagnostic worth of the Milbridge Medical Center, so perhaps it's good that I was refused service.

Further to this saga, I just called the Women's Center in Machias for Downeast Community Medical Center and was told that Milbridge had provided an extensive record of my issue with the Center, which included exclamation points. I feel like Elaine in the Seinfield series when she was attempting to find a doctor to treat her dermatology issue. She believed that she was being persecuted by the various doctors she saw, and that they were all conspiring against her. Well, Elaine, I now know how you feel. So to date, I have been unable to find a doctor to treat my hypertension. Ten years of records!

Would never recommend a woman going to Dr. Aselton. We recently moved into the area and needed a primary ASAP and landed on this place. While reviewing my medical history he promptly said that he believed I did not have medical issues (they have all been diagnosed by specialist and aren’t even that severe) that I was just nervous !? When I had said I am very much not a nervous person he rolled his eyes and shook his head and smirked while looking at his computer screen. I’ve never felt so disrespected my whole life. Who would make something up as simple as having dry skin and wanting to see a dermatologist for it? On top of this... as I walked out and passed his office I heard him making smart remarks to the nurse saying “well she fired me!” And laughing about it since I had decided mid appointment that I was unhappy with his manners and how he treated me. Please do not send your daughters to someone so disrespectful. Any young women beware because he will not take you seriously and poke fun at what you say!!!!

It’s always a pleasure to be treated by Dr. Barbee and by her assistant, Jenny. They are both kind and understanding. I love their sense of humor.
