Moving my mom to Merrill Gardens at Rolling Hills Estates was not an easy decision. After a recent health change, it took months for her to understand she needed more care and oversight. Thankfully, the general manager, Tracey, was incredibly patient and caring throughout the process. She took the time to listen and help us navigate this tough situation, which made all the difference.

Now that my mom is here, she’s thriving with the additional support from the wonderful caregivers, all managed by the nurse, Lauren. The team is attentive, kind, and truly invested in her well-being. Seeing her happy, healthy, and well-cared for has been such a relief for our family.

I’m so grateful for the thoughtful staff and the welcoming environment they’ve created at Merrill Gardens. If you’re facing a similar situation, I highly recommend reaching out to Tracey and her team—they genuinely care.

Just in the process of figuring out where to put mom… I visited MG after seeing two other assisted living/memory care centers and was most impressed!! I ended up bringing dad back the next day so he can see what my excitement was all about. I really can’t say enough good things about what I saw. The residents themselves were quick to express their gratitude and contentment with their home here at Merrill Gardens. I found every aspect of the place to be bright (with light) and cheeriness! Residents were playing games together at commons tables, there is tasty looking food available 24/7, the dining area was clean and well staffed, every area I toured was fresh smelling and perfectly lovely. There’s a private dining room for families to eat in with their loved ones. The building is built really well with luxury and space in mind. Hallways remind me of luxurious cruise ships, as do the common areas. The outdoor areas/gardens for residents to plant things in are thoughtful and amazing, as are the amenities provided for residents. Programming was vast and programming staff seemed to connect with residents and visitors in a jovial and engaging way. I can’t tell you how refreshing and delightful Jennifer Counihan, the Community Relations Director was, especially after dealing with the past few depressing weeks we’ve had with mom’s health issues and the looming reality that we’re going to need a higher level of care. Memory Care is not usually a place where anyone envisions their loved ones, but here, it normalizes the activities that are meant to stimulate cognitive activity. The residents are treated with positive interactions and encouragement that could make anyone feel the love, care and concern that MG has for their loved ones. I observed the gentleness and friendliness of all the staff, and It’s nice to know a place like this exists nearby. I spoke with people who had come from all over the country to be placed here. I get it. If mom doesn’t get placed here, I’m going to put myself here!

I visited for the second time earlier this week, this time bringing others from my family. We appreciated the chance to see what assisted living means in the present day, which is much different from what it was 40 years ago. Merrill Gardens looks like a plush hotel, not so much like a facility. We were impressed by the amenities and programmed activities. The location is fantastic, so close to the public library and the Peninsula Senior Center. What was most apparent was the community of residents and how friendly they are. Jennifer introduced several of them to us, and they were all super friendly and welcoming. We even visited one resident who opened up his two-bedroom apartment for us to see, and we struck up a great conversation. Jennifer was attentive to our needs, making sure to answer all our questions and putting us first, even among a busy day.

I’ve toured several assisted living communities in the area, and Merrill Gardens stands out as the best by far. Their staff is exceptional, dedicated to making sure your loved ones enjoy their golden years to the fullest. A special shout-out to Ariel, the Connections Program Director—she is absolutely wonderful! If you visit, I highly recommend asking for her. You won’t be disappointed!

There are two most awesome things about Merrill Gardens: the incredibly kind staff and the fun-filled events! Having worked with many senior living facilities, I can confidently say this team is the most compassionate. Whenever you have questions, they respond warmly and with a smile—especially Jennifer and Elaine! We can’t say enough good things about this group.

Another highlight is the amazing events they regularly host. We recently attended their Luau event, which featured an incredible feast, live performances, and a fun photo booth. The smiles on the seniors’ faces showed just how much they enjoyed it!

Merrill Gardens is a beautiful community. What I love about Merrill is every time I walk in the doors everyone is so warm and friendly, it’s always beautifully decorated, and residents are always engaged with activities. The best part is, as you walk around the community there is always a smiling face with both residents and staff. Staff is genuinely happy working at Merrill.

I toured Merrill Gardens and was impressed. I had the chance to visit a residents 2 bed 2 bath apartment, and it was surprisingly comfortable like a condo. The residents I spoke with were friendly and seemed happy with their experience at the home. Overall, it’s definitely worth considering.

For the past year, I have been looking for a senior living community for my Mom. Merrill Gardens in Rolling Hills Estates stood out. The facility is modern, light, open and has a warm feel. The residents are vibrant and welcoming. I had several residents engage my Mom and I in conversation and spoke well of their experience at MG. Jennifer and Elaine (the Community Relations team) we're welcoming, informative and patient throughout our process - choosing a new home is difficult and they helped us throughout. Mom is moving in and ready to start her next chapter.
