Went there for pain in my back. The lady Dr looked at the mri not even looking at my back at all. Telling me that I needed test shots in my back and if those didn't work they would snip nerves in my back. I cancelled my followup apps. they sent me a letter saying that I didn't cancel and if it happened again they would drop me from the practice. Most disorganized practice I've been to. Not going back.

Dr. Elinore is nice, but I am in constant pain, and I can't seem to get that message through. I came in asking not to be given opioids, I don't want them. There are hundreds of other meds, but all I am given are NSAIDS and cortisone shots, neither of which help. The staff is very rude, sound bored and like you are bothering them when you call or walk in. I know it's a hard job, but a little sympathy and a smile would make a huge difference. I walk in with a smile, even though I can barely walk. I couldn't go in for 6 months, due to a broken ankle/leg, and all appts offered to me since then are at least 2 months out. How can you manage pain when you don't even provide services? I will take my chances elsewhere...I would rather wait for an opening at a new Dr, where I might actually get relief, than wait 2 months to try an NSAID again

I give Dr. Mwanza a Zero how she got got to be what she call her self a Pain in my ass Specialist has no idea what the hell she’s doing take my advice Run from her as fast as you can she’s no Pain Specialist at all made my pain worse she gave a shot of probably water cause it done nothing for my severe back pain she gave me that shot $300. Out of pocket I’m not in the habit of throwing money away only took 3seconds to get the shot I still have severe pain she does nothing but take your money run as fast as you can she’s terrible

Dr Onyima has been a picture of professionalism from my first appointment. He takes the time to explain everything, and listens to my input as well. This office has some bad reviews in here but they mostly stem from a Doctor that is no longer with the practice… don’t be scared off, this practice has helped me immensely.

I'd had a bad time w/another pain group. Going here to Meritus was such a relief. No problem getting my prescription and then having it re-written for another pharmacy. Nice office and Dr. Nwanze was very helpful. Note: I had been on pain mgmt. for 5 years.

If you're a veteran pain patient who has been left untreated elsewhere you might as well not start here. They will look for and find any way possible to call you a drug seeker. My husband has been dealing with his conditions for 20 years. He has been through every hoop asked of him. After another large corporate medicine company solicited him to treat his pain only to drop him over "opioid crisis" numbers. This having been directly spoken from his doctor as no fault of his own, he began using herbal remedies for several years before deciding to try again with new pain doctors. So these people at meritus seem to say that anyone in constant physical crisis have no right to treat themselves with legal herbal non harmful products that are widely available. Seems to me they are only interested in billing Medicare for a urine test when the word prescription wasn't even on the table yet. Another JOKE of a medical practice operating in the name of helping those that are suffering, while perpetuating the actual suffering. I can not wait to start seeing the class actions happening now that the cdc admits their "guidelines " which were never LAW, were harmful. Now, even if he did trust a pain doctor, he's marked for life in his records and left actually suffering and in a very dark place. Find a private practice.

Never have I been treated so rudely on the phone. After my referral was sent in labeled URGENT, because I am having terrible pain, I’m talked down to, still not scheduled, was told “I can’t make you understand” when I expressed my confusion, and basically mocked. Thanks for making me cry. So done.

Dr. Akmal is arrogant and rude. I’ve had a spinal fluid leak back in May 23, 2020 of this year, causing severe headaches along with neck pain. One blood patch from the anesthesiologists of Labour and delivery made the headaches go away, however, the neck pain persisted. Because I had a newborn to take care of, I haven’t seeked treatment for 6 months until I finally couldn’t deal with the pain anymore. My neurologist referred me to dr. Akmal for a second blood patch, to see if the pain would go away. He put the referral in a couple days before the procedure. He obviously agreed to it at the time because it was scheduled. I wake up super early while my husband (whose on night shift is watching my babies, tired) and go to my appointment. He asks me my symptoms and I explain them to him, he says what I’m describing doesn’t sound like a blood patch would help, EVEN though a professional neurologist told him over the phone I would benefit from it. Hours were wasted with him and my neurologist talking back and forth. I got frustrated because I waited 6 months for this, and told him that my time is just as valuable as his, and that it would have made more sense to have this discussion with my referring neurologist BEFORE the day of my procedure. He even signed the papers to do the procedure and was on board and everything until I made my opinion heard. He said he did not agree with my opinion and that we have a “bad” doctor-patient relationship and said the procedure is CANCELLED. Unbelievable. It feels unprofessional and like utter negligence. I complain to the director and he lies and says him AND my neurologist agree that I don’t need this treatment. No, not true. My neurologist told him I would benefit from the procedure, but that simply, he cannot force him to treat me, cause it’s within his rights to not treat a person in pain. This sounds like medical malpractice, and at the very LEAST, he could have said I don’t agree, but because your neurologist believes this would help you, I will go ahead and do the treatment, instead of denying a hurt patient. It’s wrong, and now I have to wait till Wednesday since my neurologist put a NEW referral in for me to get treated by a different anesthesiologist. Even the emergency room, said I should find a different anesthesiologist. Oh and I didn’t make a scene. I told him in a matter-of-fact way, that my time was just as valuable as his. He obviously did not like that and refused to treat me because he literally signed the papers and was about to treat me up until I said that. What a snowflake. I still have the paperwork with his signature of agreeing to treat me too. But he goes and cancels it after I tell him he should have spoken with my neurologist prior to wasting time on the day of my procedure. wow, denying a mother-of-two a spinal fluid leak treatment, because she has a voice and an opinion with how things are less than ideal with me having to re-explain my situation only for him to constantly think he knows more than the neurologist. and having to basically talk back and forth about why I’m needing the treatment to begin with, with time wasted in between with him volleying back and forth with my neurologist—-any one would be frustrated and voice that it should have been talked about prior to my procedure, not the day of. And then agreeing he would do it only to not agree to do it after I tell him the situation is less than ideal.
