I’ve been coming here for about 7 months and I haven’t had any bad experiences. I started coming here after I got out of a stay at the mental hospital. I was set up with several services: CBRS, neurofeedback, counseling, and medication management. They have always been kind and caring and I have been involved in decisions regarding my care.

Never Be In A Crisis

If you are ever in a crisis and are a Mental Health Specialists client then be prepared to be kicked out of the agency. Because, if you are dealing with a crisis they would rather get rid of you than help you work through your crisis and issues. They claim they are Specialists in Mental Health, however when someone with a crisis is struggling they just ignore them and then kick them out of their agency!! Then they will refuse to give you your records when you request them, which is against the law. You have the right to have ALL your records.

Shaming Their Clients
“We can’t force people to make positive changes by putting them down, threatening them with rejection, humiliating them in front of others or belittling them.”(Brene Brown) How can a Counselor who specializes in Shame Resilience Therapy do the exact opposite to his clients that he has been working with on learning Shame Resilience?! I can tell why because He is a hypocrite!!! He has done just the opposite, He has belittled and especially Shamed his client by saying this client is not worth helping just because of the struggles the client was going through. The summer was the hardest time for his client yet, he just kept shaming her. Plus, they as the Agency that this Counselor works for also shamed this client by holding their past struggles against them!!!

The Agency Shamed the client by giving her false diagnoses just because of the medication the client was prescribed by her psychiatrist. They didn’t even test her to see if she met the qualification to receive the two diagnoses they gave her. The Agency was also shaming the Client by piling things she struggled with during her crises. The Agency also accused her of something that a family member put in her vehicle that she had no clue what it was until she got into the car after a session at the Agency. In which the Client was majorly pissed at the family member for what he put into the Clients car!!!! When the Agency discharged this client from their care they caused great SHAME and Belittlement upon the client so greatly that she did not want to live anymore. They cause great trauma upon both the client and her daughter; yet they claim they have been traumatized. They are a Counseling Agency. How can they be traumatized!!!

When this client had expressed that summers were the hardest time of the year for her, the Agency who specializes in Mental Health seemed to ignore this client's claims. They refused to give her extra sessions with her counselor saying that she wasn’t doing her homework when she was and that she wasn’t being compliant to her treatment. The client was going to all the groups that were provided to her and was doing the homework for the groups, and never missed an appointment or groups. The said Client even had met a goal in CBRS. When the client found out she may have done something wrong she corrected the action and did not do the action again. She tried to follow the rules of the Agency the best that she could. She had no intention to break any of the rules of the Agency whatsoever!!! The client Trusted the Agency wholeheartedly and felt very safe and comfortable there. The client even felt safer that she did at her own home at times.

This Agency is now refusing to release all of her and her daughter records to them saying that they can only get her her CDAs which is not true, they are required to release ALL records to the client, her Counseling notes, Case Management notes, Group notes, CBRS notes, Nero-Feed-Back notes, and for her daughter her CDAs, her Counseling notes, Respite notes, CBRS notes, TTC notes, and Psychiatrist notes. I believe one of the reasons they don’t want to give the records to me is because of the false diagnosis that they have given me without giving me the right test to see if I even meet the qualifications for those two diagnoses.

All of the things the Mental Health Specialists have done is Malpractice!!! Who knows how many other people they have done this too!!! I think it is about time that someone stands up to them!!! If they haven’t done it to others, then they are being prejudiced towards this client who is straight, but tomboyish and her daughter who is half African and American and are both very open about their religious beliefs!!!

When my daughter first started with this office with Ms. Patrick, I was so happy and grateful for the service and help regarding my daughter. Miss Patrick is an amazing woman who deeply cares for her clients and made an honest and outright effort to help me and my daughter to the best of her ability even with my daughter being essentially nonverbal. After Ms Patrick had to resign her position, my daughter started with a different therapist. I have never been so dissatisfied by someone who claims to be a mental health professional. Little to no effort on doing anything aside from giving me advice on how I can help my daughter's behavior in a time where I need to make sure that she is monitored and her mental health is doing better during her parents divorce, regardless of me stating that there was a court order for there to be mutual grounds and understanding and communication between myself, the therapist,and my ex-husband regarding my daughter's mental well-being, there has been none. I have been continually led on and left in the dark for the last several months to the point to where I thought that she had been discharged from the services and was no longer a patient, I have called the office and spoken to a few people about my situation and my distress at the blatant disregard. And I have yet to hear back from anyone at all. Extremely dissatisfied at the service.

Where do I start? In the past two months they have cancelled 6 weekly counseling sessions for my son. They just called to cancel tomorrow's session due to the counselor being on vacation. Really? You didn't know about this vacation earlier? Two and three weeks ago the excuse was training with only a day's notice as well. It appears they are making up lies to not keep appointments. There is never anyone to fill in when they cancel either. Another problem they recently came up with is that it is now mandatory every three months to reevaluate with an appointment that I have to take time off work and also make sure my son is at because they don't have later appointment slots. The duration of this appointment is an hour and a half. These are just a couple of the issues I've had. Don't use them!!!

I was with Ric Boyce for about five years and at first felt really accommodated and helped. But as the years went on and we switched to telehealth, I felt a distinct disconnect with my counselor and had an extremely hard time getting myself heard. It was just dull, repetitious unhelpful conversation after conversation. Maybe he got tired of me, maybe I'm incapable of help. But this establishment is no longer for me, and I will be switching counselors.

Side note: the reception is AWFUL. Nobody answers the phones, and nobody gets messages across. Extremely frustrating.

EDIT: after finding a counselor who is genuinely effective, I realize just how unprofessional Ric was. He would bring his guitar to sessions and play and sing. There was no structure and no drive, just baseless convos that went nowhere. I have no idea if he has improved since my time there, but I have a lot of reservations about this place that still haunt me.

What a terrible place!!! Changed appointments and cancelled multiple times but didn't notify us so we drove an hour to be turned away. My daughter needed help. Do NOT go here!!!! Mental health needs to be taken seriously. This isn't the place for that.

Excellent place to grow. My 8 year old girl goes here and Kailin gives her tangible things to work on. She listens and really gives us tools to work with. Our daughter has improved so much! She also qualified for Medicaid services Through her conduct disorder and we don’t have to pay anything. Otherwise based off of our income we wouldn’t have qualified for Medicaid. She is getting the help she needs! I highly recommend you be open minded and willing to grow.
