Nice picnic park area. There is a barbecue and trash can in the parking lot. However, there is only one faucet in front of the bathroom that provides water. And since there is no shade, you need to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.

We were little bit in dilemma about the routes but once you enter the gravel path from the main road you can see the dam. But you need to take right towards the picnic and campground. Once you park near the restroom before the gate, walk back towards the dam, there is a bridge towards the dam. You can have closer look of the dam and lake. We couldn’t see the opened dam but it was so near view of the dam. Then we went back to the oak recreation area to have the other side view of the dam. Lots of campsite around the area would definitely come back in summer to enjoy the area again.

You can drive down and see the spillway of the dam. It is beautiful along the river with areas to park and walk. Love that there is another state across the other side of the river.
