Do not be fooled by the pictures on the website - this must have been taken years ago. The cabins are NOT heated, there is no WiFi, no fancy firepit (it's just a pile of rubble) and no picnic tables or outside seating of any kind. We typically camp but decided to do a very last minute getaway and unfortunately, I did not read the other reviews until posting my own. You are better off camping - cheaper, cleaner (trust me) and you will find many beautiful sites along the Penobscot River. This place was so bad, we checked out a day early and the owner, Skip, refused to refund the last night stay.

My friend booked a large cabin for the weekend of the Millinocket Marathon and Half Marathon. It is probably one of the busiest weekends in December in this charming town. We were told we could check in any time after 11. We showed up a little after 1:30 and were told by Skip, the owner, that the propane hadn't been delivered yet but to come back after 4. No big deal -- stuff happens!||||We picked up our race gear, went shopping in the downtown area, and had a very early but delicious dinner at the Scootic In. Came back to the cabins just after 4.||Skip informed us that the propane was fine and the cabin was nice and warm and clean but that SURPRISE due to the snow on the ground in MAINE in DECEMBER, the pipes were frozen and there was no running water. No toilet flushing. No shower.||||Skip's suggestion was that he would refund the money but let us stay overnight. He would provide us with a 5 gallon bucket to use to flush the toilet. I asked about the shower and he just kind of stared at me. ||||Thank goodness the Kathadin Inn & Suites had a room available and were happy to take in refugees. ||||I see this is an all too common occurrence. I'm interested to see if he actually refunds the money to my friend.

This was by far the worst accommodations I have ever experienced. Our cabin was essentially falling apart. Our ceiling was caving in (could see outdoors), our bathroom floor was caving in, no air conditioning, no fan, no WIFI, no curtains on some the windows (my fiance had to use his shirts and a towel to make a curtain so we have some privacy), on the windows that did have coverings- they were ripped with holes. A can of raid was left in our room.. We barely had enough hot water for a shower. We had to turn no cold on, and have the hot water at full blast. ||How on earth does someone think this is acceptable to rent out?||Our friends cabin had no fridge or microwave (as advertised). Their bathroom door only shut halfway (unless you used your whole body to slam it). There was no plumbing under their sink..They were given a bucket to use. And the cherry on top... no hot water (the entire time). ||If you read some of the other reviews, you will see that people often show up after making a reservation, only to be told "sorry we are full". We were only there for a couple days, but two separate groups came and were told "sorry, you don't actually have a reservation".||I come to Maine every year and will NEVER NEVER NEVER stay here again.

Do not even consider. We booked in April for the marathon in December. My account was immediately charged. We drove 6.5 hours, to arrive to a note that said we couldn't check in until 6pm....when we arrived back, we were told there was no water, so we couldn't stay there. No assistance with trying to find another place for us to stay. Skip was rude, disrespectful, an seemingly unapologetic about the situation. When I asked for my money back, he couldn't find my payment. We had to show him the account info. Then, he couldn't find his checkbook...Skip is completely unprofessional. Avoid at all costs. Thank goodness Katahdin Inn and Suites was able to accommodate us on their busiest weekend of the year. Highly recommended Katahdin Inn and Suites!

DO NOT STAY HERE! My family and I planned a trip to white water raft the Penobscot River back in August of this year. After driving over 5 hours, we arrived to our ‘cabin’. When we first pulled up, we were surprised to see how trashed the property was. Stuff was EVERYWHERE. We decided to not judge the book by its cover, and went inside. Long story short, the inside was just as horrific as the outside. Towels nailed to the wall, blocking holes to the outside. Bugs and spiders in all corners. It felt creepy crawly to be completely honest. After the long drive, we were taking turns using the restroom...when I heard my husband say, “Hurry up there are fleas in here!” Needless to say, there were definitely fleas jumping on him from the floor and bed area.
We left and contacted the owner. After a few days, he replied and said sorry (through text). He said he would refund us the money, BUT NEVER DID. I contacted him several other times, to never get any other responses or Our money Back.
Awful customer service, absolutely horrifying cabin, terrible experience!!

We ended up getting a room at Katahdin Inn and Suites down the street. Don’t let the outside of that building scare you. It’s super nice and cozy inside!

As of August 2020 I still have not received a refund from Katahdin Cabins. The date I arrived to find no water was June, 2018. The last thing the owner said to me is that he was not there to rip anyone off. He would refund all money. As you can see from previous posts, no money has been refunded. I realize my $500 is gone, just trying to prevent anyone else from losing money.||||There has been no water in these cabins since June, 2018. I am still awaiting a $500 refund from the week I was to stay here. How are they still able to rent cabins without running water? Many people are owed refunds. Do not ruin your trip to the area by renting these cabins.

It was a cute, small cabin that was really nice to come home to after hiking Katahdin. The owner was great, super helpful and let us know where to go when our car was having issues. The only thing I disliked was that it was hard to ask for towels and soap, which were not provided, as I was getting in really late and leaving really early in the morning. But a great stay nonetheless! Would definitely return 🙂

I was unable to stay because my plans changed.... I emailed and cancelled my reservation well before the 14 day cut off for a full refund. Skip emailed me to confirm that a full refund would be processed. When I sent a second request for a refund Skip apologized for forgetting - and promised to process a refund and send an email to confirm. Almost 4 months since I originally cancelled my reservation and was assured a refund - another email I sent has gone completely unanswered. I should have paid better attention to the reviews on Trip Advisor. I guess it is a costly, $219 mistake !
