I really enjoyed my time here. I only had a couple things on why it's not 5 stars. The store is very small for a KOA, the staff was not as interactive as most KOA I have been to, and my lakeside view was of a dock and boat yard. I am sure there are better spots to pick from, but this was my first visit. I will be back in the future for sure to check out more of the hiking trails. Overall a great place. I will also note the dump station is on a kind of horseshoe road which may be difficult for the larger 5th wheel campers. I will update my review when I go back and explore more!

This is one of the best camping places we have been to. Hartwell lakeside KOA has excellent camping options. Great Lake views. Restrooms are clean. Kids play area. Dog park. Variety of sites to fit your camping preferences. The staff is really friendly and provide great service. We have camped here 3 times and always recommend to our friends and family. I would anytime come back and camp here.

This is an honest review of our stay (7-27-23) at the Georgia Lakeside KOA campground. We knew that KOA had just recently purchased this state park and we were unsure what to expect but we were surprised at the campground. We'll start with the good: I'll say that the staff were all courteous and helpful, the sites are clean and spacious and the surrounding area is QUIET. The negative, which we believe will be fixed over time. If you are expecting the traditional KOA Holiday fancy or updated amenities, you will be let down with a few items. The bathouses are old and outdated, somewhat clean but dark and not properly remodeled, the bouncy pad isn't the normal big bouncy pillow, wifi is slow and the waterfront sites/water are littered with leaves making it a murky swim but we know that they have nothing to do with this. So with that said, our campsite was site #15 and it was beautiful and LEVEL. If you are in a RV and it rains, you'll be fine but if you are tent camping on site #15 and it rains, look out for 5in of rain on the site. As soon as the rain stops, it dries up quickly but keep in mind if you are tent camping.

Pretty great campground. Only a few full hookups, but nearly all of the sites are rather level. Originally a Georgia State Park, many of the sites are well spaced from each other while only very few will leave you feeling "cheek by jowl" with your neighbor.

Don't forget to visit downtown Hartwell! There was something for everyone from cute shops to the candy store to good eats & a great brewery / restaurant!

My kiddo and I went tent camping here for the weekend. Staff was great , 2 maintenance guys brought a pump to our site and helped us blow up some floats and both were very helpful and pleasant.

Bathrooms were clean , ice and firewood is conveniently for sell at the koa office which was nice. The whole campgrounds were clean.

I liked that we had our own private area to get on the water , plus made for a good view from the tent while relaxing.

Site had electric , our water didn’t work but I believe each site has water, we also had our own picnic table and fire pit/grill.

Also playground and jump pad for the little ones.

PROS:
- Beautiful lakefront sites. A little tricky getting down to the water. I wish campgrounds would invest in some kind of steps or a path from the site to the water.
- Boat ramp
- Can tie off boat right at the campsite
Super convenient!
- Water & electric at site
- Office really helpful. Answered all my questions- a lot, since I'd never stayed before.
CONS:
- Tent sites really close to one another
- Garbage and RV waste station are combined. Pulled into dump garbage and there was an RV taking care of waste water. Another RV pulled in behind so we were stuck waiting. Should be separate or have another way out.
- From the parking lot- steps only. Lot sits above tent sites (incline) making packing in/out a pain. There is a path blocked by a chain which is the only access if you use a buggy but you'll need to lift it over your buggy. Be nice if you could pull your vehicle up to site and pack in/out and then park in the lot- plenty of room to do so.
- Not enough parking for the tent site area causing ppl to park on the road making for a tight squeeze for ppl with large trucks and/or boats/trailers. .

Great location on Lake Hartwell- just not for me. Won't revisit due to sites being too close together making it too noisy. Too many selfish ppl who only care about their camp experience- obnoxiously loud music, barking dogs and drunks. (No fault of the campground).

We absolutely loved this rustic KOA. Such a beautiful park. Only 3 full hookup sites, the rest are rustic. Enjoyed our time there! Working washers and dryers, and decent wifi near the first bathhouse . Will visit again!

Amazing peaceful place to kamp. Never seen before they bring the fire wood to your site! Very helpful staff.
