A small town located on North side of Oahu. Maintains an old plantation and rustic atmosphere. Very quiet and kick back. It is a nice change from the hectic pace of Honolulu and Waikiki.
Of course it is the home of Matsumoto Hawaiian shaved ice. The favorite on Oahu.
Also close to the banzai pipeline beach where the surf challenges and contests are held in February.
Try a relaxing canoe ride, kayak or standing surf board ride down the river by the famous rainbow bridge.
People from this and the tourists are so friendly! Made many a friendship with Australians, new Zelanders, Italians and from Chile.

Haleiwa is one of my favorite places on earth.
The food is awesome and the energy is good.
Heads up: double whatever time you have planned to get through town on busy days. Traffic can be difficult.
