The Haitian Monument in Franklin Square is a very touching reminder of how many countries and brave people aided the American colonists in their fight for independence against England. We found this a very nice monument especially the story of the young drummer.

I enjoyed this area in savanna. It was great to see our Haitian ancestors were recognized for their contributions to the United States. It was an honor to know our influence in that city.

Great history spot! I know one of the “models” depicted on the statue (Dr. Amir Jamal Touré, PhD)! Dr. Toure is a CHAMPION of history in this region!!! Great man to learn from, and local activists. We must protect/preserve our history!!!

Very pretty. Aggressive but polite panhandlers. Once given the opportunity to observe the history and sculpture, it was nice. A nicely done honor to the Haitian culture and their contributions to the revolutionary war.

As a First Generation Haitian American it’s amazing to have a monument like this on American Soil to commemorate and honor Haitians in Americian history. Being able to come here with my parents, aunts, and uncles whome emigrated to the United States for a better life was an unforgettable experience .

Being Haitian, I was excited to come here while visiting. Only thing is I was by myself as a young lady and there were some really sketchy characters surrounding the square that it's located in. It was getting dark the first day I attempted but I decided it was best to come back earlier the next day. It was still surrounded by sketchy folks but I wasn't leaving without seeing it so I just went in. No one bothered me though but just keep in mind if your traveling alone as a woman.

Very nice historic monument. I enjoyed seeing it and reading the plaques about it. However, there was a lot of trash and nefarious people just loitering around it. Cops were even called on 2 men fighting. Needs to be policed more and more upkeep

Thanks to Casey, the rapping historian, for describing the monument to me. And especially for emphasizing the blessings Liberty we share thanks to the sacrifices of so many people at the founding of the United States.
