NEVER hold an event there. We were giving a presentation for 30 people that we told and paid for in advance. When we arrived, there were not enough tables and chairs. We asked for more tables and chairs. They said that we didn't request it and the equipment was for another event but locked in the room that we were presenting in mind you. But we asked for room to hold for 30 people for a presentation. They couldn't access how many tables and chairs a group of 30 need? Yet no one ever came in to get the equipment in the storage room for the "other" event. They didn't unlock the audio/visual equipment so we could set up. We had to find them to open the podium to set up our equipment for our presentation. How are we going to steal a podium , table and chairs? Everything was locked up and you had to ask them for everything. When I presented at other libraries, I was shocked because they were so helpful. They were professional and kind. Some of them didn't even charge me. NEVER EVER EVER going back to this library!!!

This might not be the largest library in the suburbs but the librarians and support staff have to be some of the best.

Make sure you check out their website because they are always updating with different events being held at the library. Our family has always enjoyed the kids activities that they host throughout the month.

If they do not have a book in stock that you were looking for it is usually made available to you within a few days.

the staff are just extra for no reason . SAT week came and i went to study with some friends ( group of 5 ) we were completely respectful and quiet yet if we wanted to use the room we booked one of us had to be excluded . Mokena library is sm better and understanding to their residents . seriously what was the issue or harm by having one extra person 😭.

I have had a chance to use quite a few of the services at the library and think they are very nice. I have attended quite a few of the children's programs, which my two year old really enjoyed, as well as programs geared at older kids who were equally as happy with the events. I have also participated in the summer reading program and library on the green all of which have been totally enjoyable.
Recently I had to write a paper for a humanities class and the librarian was very nice about helping me locate reference books, since the library doesn't use the old fashioned dewey decimal system I had no idea where to look and she was very helpful.
While I have experienced a few less than helpful ladies at the check out desk, usually they are very nice.
I have not had the same experience at all as the other reviewer who had such an obviously bad one. Maybe it was just an off day....
I am looking forward to seeing the expansion project finished and being able to enjoy studying at the library again.

My kids looked up multiple books on the computer (card catalogue) and the library did not have one copy of any of the books they saw in the listings. But I see many books there that I am positive have not been checked out in years. Other than that the staff is super friendly and the place is clean and organized.

I go to this library a lot since I’m in grad school and my diagnosis of ADD prohibits me from studying at home. For some reason, everywhere you sit to study, the workers at the library talk loudly to each other where I can’t focus. The last four times I’ve been here to study, I’m constantly trying to sound the workers out with study music but it’s to a point where I can’t turn the sound up any louder. There’s a dedicated study area that it seems like some workers don’t care about anymore. It’s hard to get a study room since there’s only three available and are usually booked. I’m just disappointed & annoyed at this point.

The staff is so rude. Whenever you go to them with questions they're always super snappy and arrogant. They talk down to people like everyone is an idiot. They staff is also very unhelpful. If you can't work a computer, like, say, my grandmother, or a printer, also like my grandmother, they tell you too bad so sad and let you worry about the thing without batting an eyelash. They also don't tell people to quiet down when trying to study. They let children run around and scream or let people have arguments in the back where the study rooms are. Great staff...

Whenever I try to check out books from other libraries in the system it takes over two weeks for the books to ship or when i check out books from the actual library it takes them about a week to grab a book off the shelf and label it reserved when it's currently in the library (resulting, usually, in the book being checked out by someone else).

the selection of books isn't great and they only get one of the 'hottest' books when it's popular so that it takes about a year for someone to finally read that 'popular' book. a lot of their books are totally worn down such as pages misses, tears, stains, etc. one time i got a small amount of water damage on ONE page and i had to buy the book - but people get away with covering a book in peanut butter and jelly so that you can't open a good section of pages? makes sense.

The only good thing about the library is the wifi, like already mentioned.

Also their hours kind of suck for people who have jobs and/or go to school. They used to be open on Sundays (which is a prime day for people to have off and grab a good book).
