My mother in law was here for 5 years. The nursing staff took very good care of her while she was here. The aids work hard and are very conscientious about their responsibilities to the patients. The people we encountered every department were personable and friendly. If we did have any concerns they were addressed right away. They are always willing to listen to any ideas to help the patients. I would highly recommend this facility.

Please do not subject your loved ones to this facility. Objectively a center for elder abuse. Zero management presence. Social worker is completely incapable of caring for anybody responsibly, and actively makes lives harder for every person here. Absolutely despicable.

Edit: regarding the facility's response to my review ... Shameful to lie to people like that just to try and look good. I have absolutely been to the facility many times to visit somebody over multiple stays there. I'll gladly draw you a floor plan from memory if you need convincing. Just because you, person responding on the Internet, didn't talk to me and learn my name doesn't mean you can accuse me of lying. Feel free to check your visitor log and you'll see my name in there a handful of times.

I do know that we spoke up on countless occasions about all sorts of issues and that not only did they never get addressed, the problems only worsened. Staff has no management oversight and is often just standing around. My relative would press the call button maybe once or twice a day to get help for things like, you know, going to the bathroom, and it would take well over an hour for somebody to respond. Sometimes 2+ hours.

We tried talking with the social worker on site and they were highly unresponsive and otherwise often fairly incompetent. Getting paperwork done for discharge took constant nudging. They took responsibility for ordering the correct medical bed for my relative moving into a different location and, the day before the move, let us know that they hadn't ordered it yet. They had weeks to do it and simply ignored the task!

Since nobody there has a telephone line to call, we wrote emails to try and get help and they all got ignored.

And since you responded trying to falsely discredit me, I'll gladly add a couple more things here for people that read this and are considering the facility for a loved one:

- the parking lot and sidewalks are rarely if ever plowed or shoveled in the winter. They're just asking for a lawsuit from slipping on ice

- the staff is extremely disconnected. One person makes a medicine change one day and then the next, we'd be told that it was never communicated and so it wouldn't happen. The inconsistencies in care are incredibly tragic here in so many ways

- if your loved one needs help using the bathroom, just know that you have to give the staff a 2+ hour advance notice or else you're out of luck

- the whole facility is full of extremely dated and worn down furniture. It's like a facility out of the 1960s

- it also smells like pee everywhere. Every hallway and room. Just the constant smell of pee

- physical therapy was actually really positive here! Awesome! But unfortunately it's highly inconsistent and only available on sporadic days that change frequently. If your loved one needs PT help to recover/improve, expect a long drawn out process because of the lack of proper staffing

At the end of the day, this is almost definitely just a facility that is taking in heaps of Medicare funding and providing the bare minimum service and care imaginable. Absolute zero management oversight and it is very evident in how the whole place functions.

Everything is abusive and awful. Understaffed as all hell. Patients will buzz for help and it can take two or more hours for somebody to come. Facility is outdated and everything is broken or breaking. Staff mostly apathetic, there is zero leadership here. They're just raking in Medicare money and doing nothing for it.

They don't even plow/shovel their parking lot for visitors or staff. A healthcare facility! Just covered in ice all winter.

Elder abuse and they don't even care. How disgraceful. Family member has had to stay here multiple times for a month or so of rehab and it's been so distressing for all of us.

a tale of two facilities ...

my mother was recently at Fairfield following her knee replacement surgery. So start with the good, the rehab went well and they had her doing well given her complex health issues. Kudos to that team. The dr i spoke to and some of the staff were excellent. Responsive and seemed to care about my mother's health and recovery. Food was pretty good. Dietician I dealt with was excellent.

Now the downside ... patient care well less less than optimal and at times neglectful. The worse .. failing to properly clean my mother following an accident and waiting over a day to fix the problem despite her asking for help. Problem with the facility's water connection so they could not generate ice for my mother's ice machine (used to reduce swelling following knee replacement surgery). Not disclosed before she came and was a constant fight to get staff to use it since figuring out ice was hard). Their suggestion, I can bring a bag of ice everyday to use. Not acceptable. Both brought up with the facility's director and head nurse. Despite their assurances, things did not get better but some staff became more passive aggressive.

Room cleanliness was spotty at times. Did not appreciate spilled water on the floor which made the floor slippery. What could go wrong with a patient that just had knee replacement surgery?

Some staff was incredibly rude and passive aggressive. Again brought with those in charge with no impact.

Lastly, do NOT leave any valuables there. My mother's iphone charger was stolen while she was there. Despite assurances the facility would replace it, they failed to do so.

If you have to send a loved one to this facility, you need to visit them EVERYDAY to make sure they are ok and dr orders etc are followed.

My mother who has moderate to severe dementia has been a resident at Fairfield since 2020.

They have always treated her well and worked hard with me to make her comfortable. The staff does their best and they keep me up to date with what is going on, as I live outside MD.

When I have visited, my mother had a bowel movement that 'didn't go as planned', shall we say. I informed the nurse at the station who immediately attended my mother.

I have not seen any pressure sores or signs of neglect. The staff provide entertainment and social time that stimulates those who stay here.

As they are state funded, yes, their furniture is worn, but functional. I hope families will donate small items for those who need. Like fidget blankets or toys, maybe puzzles. Note, they have never asked for these things.

My thanks to the staff. Veronica H.

I arrived to visit my mother and when I arrived my mother was nowhere to be found. I walked around to a few places she could be but couldn't find her. When I asked her nurse where my mother was she said "she's not in her room?" When I said no she checked for herself and then began to get upset and looking all over for her. Eventually the nurse found her in another patients room. My poor mother had no idea how she got there and was very confused.
Also the head nurse Mimi is the most disrespectful and unprofessional person I have ever met. There was a heated misunderstanding and instead of deescalating the situation Mimi yelled and spoke over my mother and I. My mother's mind is not there and she wanted to go home but couldn't. Mimi handed my mother discharge papers whilst telling her she can leave. Luckily I was there and told Mimi that my mother could not sign anything as she is not of sound mind (I am her POA.)

This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

This was only two of many issues we encountered whilst my Mom spent two weeks here. There is no security, your loved one could walk right out as the front desk is clueless and there are other exits that are always open and not being monitored. If you care for your loved ones, want them to be safe, and respected then take them somewhere else.

Mother is currently enrolled. Level of care seems variable. My mom has noted some delays in care from time to time, but I've always seen staff respond within 5 minutes or so after requesting assistance. However, as I write this review, we have been waiting approximately 60+ minutes and counting for assistance after ringing the assistance bell (which I'm sure doesn't meet state approved standards). Mother simply needed assistance with using the bathroom. When no one came after 18 minutes, she simply relieved herself in her pants and now has been just sitting in it for 40+ minutes. The nurse on staff, who I made aware of the issue after no one responded, was waiting for a tech to arrive at 4 PM to change my mom, but the employee showed up at 4:30...so still waiting as I type this review. Not sure if this is simply a one off or more common than we would like to think...as my mom indicates. May be something for State of Maryland to evaluate or take into consideration (patient/family testimony) when evaluating this facility.

Terrible place. I had to move my dad so the doctors there didn't refer him out for unnecessary surgery. The wound care doc, Dr K, owns one of the transport companies they use to send people out for referrals he makes. Every doctor and nurse who found out where he was staying begged me to get him out of there. Imagine taking your parent out to a doctor appointment and having the NP and their staff groan and advise you to get your parent out when they find out where you are. All of the negative reviews are accurate. He was there for 25 days and was absolutely failing to thrive. 1 day in a new place, he is up and walking. The place is owned by some company in Vegas. They are terribly short staffed. Of the staff they have the best ones are the aids. Some of them are very nice. Nurses are incompetent, lazy and nasty. The doctors are worse than that. I have filed complaints with state agencies to try to raise awareness of their absolutely pathetic and harmful work. I could type till my fingers fell off. Please listen to me and all the other reviews. Do whatever you have to to prevent a hospital or care center from releasing someone you love to this known disaster of a place.
***EDIT... you had 26 days to work with me to resolve the problems my dad had there. You did nothing but lie and hide from me when I came in the building. Please saved the canned auto-replies faking concern. They only make you look worse... which is pretty hard to pull off.
