This has have to be one of the most useless places, especially the Public Defenders office. I typically do not leave negative reviews, but I need to share how inadequate the public defender office is. We have tried to get a new public defender for my loved one for months. We have been stalled with talks of missing forms and documents that need to be uploaded. We can not talk directly to Monica Kyle's who is plastered on the website, but is unavailable for a conversation or even an email. We have genuine complaints of the assigned Public defender that hasn't been in communication with us. They have excuse after excuse but no action! The same woman keeps answering the phone and there is no one else to talk to. They will not provide work emails or phone numbers.

What a bad experience with the Douglas County court house. I've completed all my tasks and handed in all my forms to have my case dismissed. I've reached out numerous times to the public defenders office and the solicitors office and no one will help me. If the shoe was on the other foot &, I missed my deadline to have my documents turned in, I would have a warrant for my arrest faster than I could blink. This is ridiculous how horrible the attitude and service is coming from this public service

They are thieves. They charge you for filing fees that are clearly free on their website. They take money from people and swear you up and down they're in the right. I will be reporting this behavior. It's ridiculous. Read your manuals and website. The info is there.

Edit: I filed a case in July and have yet to hear back from the courthouse. I've emailed them several times per their website instructions, but I've been ignored. However, when the defendant does ANYTHING, they make sure you get in to see them. I hate that my case is in Douglas county, they are unfair in all their ways.

It's February 2025. Still haven't been seen by a judge. Each response by the court employees makes you feel like you're interrupting their day, they're snappy and rude. And they LOVE DEADBEATS.

Went to get my passport renewed, took my pictures before going, didn’t know you need money order or a check to pay but the lady was nice told me to go to Kroger to get a money order, went and came back and she helped me out. Recommendations, Money Order or Check just to make things faster and have your pictures already taken. 😊

Nobody ever answers the phone at the notary extension. It's absolutely ridiculous that it takes more than a week to get someone. And then I had to press 4 different office numbers in order to get any. One of them to answer then I had to get transferred to the notary line.

What a careless mess of disorderliness and lies. Went to stand witness for a friend’s bogus ticket. The solicitor would not answer before arraignment, officer didn’t show up, so the options were A) pay hundreds more than the ticket to a lawyer, or B) accept a bogus deal and still be out of your hard earned money.

This place doesn’t represent justice, fairness, or equality. It represents servitude and submittance to the state, along with reliance on a broken system that punishes good people. I hate this country, county, and state. The LEO that writes these type of bogus tickets should be removed and more.

BE AWARE!!! DOUGLAS COUNTY OFFICIALS ARE CRIMINALS! JUDGE BARBARA IS AN UNJUST UNCOMPASSIONATE JUDGE WITH NO CONCERN FOR THE TAXPAYING MIDDLE CLASS OF DOUGLASVILLE DURING TERRIBLE ECONOMIC TIMES. She added several beyond unnecessary 'fines' that had absolutely nothing to do with the case simply because my husband was trying to explain that he is the only wage earner in our home and we have 4 children. What a bully! Oh and nothing we can do because they 'are the law'! Crooked people run this county! They've up'd out taxes every year to now its more than doubled since 2018. Check out the ridiculousness of this 'fine'.
