We hiked the trails leading up to the black rocks. Some of the paths are pretty challenging, so would recommend hiking boots/shoes, and being careful. Particularly on some narrow paths on the side of steep hills. Going down the middle trail is generally easier. That was the way we took back. Both the easier and harder trails were great though. It's fun taking the more adventurous route, and the easier center path is very peaceful and serene. You can also walk along the road or drive up here if you would prefer.

There are multiple pretty views of the lake leading up to the black rocks, and the black rocks themselves offer a beautiful view of the cool rock formations and the lake itself.

Such a cool spot to visit on lake Superior. You can walk along the rocks and there a multiple spots to go into the water, even a spot to jump off! We went early August and the water was chilly at first but eventually got used to it (if you ever swam in lake Michigan in the spring/ early summer- it is about the same). The park we were at had a beach area as well as many hiking trails and places to catch the views. Very peaceful and enjoyable. I would recommend driving around it once first if you haven't been before parking (it is a one way and can be busy at times- so finding a spot close to where you want to be may take a lap around).

If you're going to be in the area, make sure you stop here with your bathing suit! A short walk over some rocks and you're at the cliff. It's a high enough jump where you may take a pause at the edge before jumping in! It's a fun experience, and the water is "refreshingly" cold! After you jump in, you can either swim back to the beach, or you can go back to the rock and climb back up for another jump.

Definitely a must stop if you’re in the area. Can be pretty crowded during summer and popular weekends. Small parking lot, but you can also park along the road in certain areas. Beautiful rock beach area as well as the main attraction ‘Black Rocks’.

Not dog friendly unfortunately.

Black Rocks is a truly cool, free place to visit with plenty to see and do. The views are amazing, and the rocks on the small beach areas are simply gorgeous. I do want to mention that the water is extremely cold; during my visit, a teenager who jumped in experienced shock and nearly drowned, which was quite frightening to witness. You might also spot black squirrels and a fair number of mosquitoes.
There's ample parking in the lower sections of the park. However, if it's exceptionally busy and Black Rocks is your primary destination, it's wise to secure a parking spot before reaching the immediate Black Rocks parking area. That lot isn't very large, and if it's full, you'll have to drive the entire loop again to find a space.
