Nice little Monument.
Been to the US 1 marker in Key West. Thought it appropriate to hit the one in Fort Kent to tie it together while I was in Maine.

Great! Right next to the border crossing which was easy compared to the Niagara Falls crossing. (See the comparison in the pix)

Nice roadside Monument and park area adjacent to the river. Take a picture and stroll through downtown or check out some of the local hiking trails, enjoy!

Was great to be at the beginning of Route 1 at the Canadian border in Fort Kent Maine. I now want to visit the southern end in Florida.

We have been at the end of U.S. Route 1- Mile Marker 0 in Key West, Florida. So, we drove to America's First Mile 2,000+ miles from Key West, to Ft. Kent, Maine. It was a wonderful trip. We looked for moose along the way, but only saw hoove prints on the shoulder of the road at one point. If you go during the fall, leaf peepers will delight over the Autumn Colors.

While you may see from the pictures and other reviews this is not really all that much besides a sign and small park like area around it. It is a great spot to take a photo as proof that you were here. Honestly the best part of it all is if you take the time driving up to here and all the beautiful views of nature, especially in the fall. My wife and I enjoyed our trip up the entirety of route 1 (just Maine) so this was a great spot to reach! Support a local restaurant, bar, or the local brewery (with a fitting name; First Mile Brewing) and check out the historic fort nearby as well if you are here.
