Spacious and level sites. There is a playground, dog park and hiking trail. The staff was friendly and the
campground is clean, but their women's showers are not.

Mold and pink slime in each shower. Their sign on the entrance door to the shower states showers are cleaned daily. I can guarantee you, they definitely are not. The showers need bleach and a good pressure washing or deep clean.

We left a few hours after arriving. Managment has anger issues, place is riddled with mold, both inside and out. Staff doesn't observe basic food handling safety rules, indoor eating and game area is dirty with management admitting they never clean it. The pool is ridiculously small. Campers are way too close together with public paths running right through lots. What's wrong with using the side of the roads like other places? I don't want people endlessly walking a path right next to my rig. Very poorly maintained with damaged areas roped off. Not safe for children. Not healthy because of the excessive mold you can smell in the air no matter where you are in the park.

My daughter and her family were told that they had to leave by Saturday 9/14/24 because my disabled grandson has behavioral issues. When my daughter contacted corporate, the campground told her that they have to leave by sundown today, 9/12/24. What an utterly despicable act of discrimination against the disabled. How do they live with themselves. Not inclusive or respectful of the disabled. I would NEVER recommend the Richmond/Gardiner KOA. Corporate should dissolve your franchise

We like KOA’s because they are usually pretty reliable. The pool was fantastic after a long sticky day of driving. Though the park is built on a steep hill, our site was surprisingly level. I was not impressed by the state of the roads and grounds however. It all had an air of neglect. The walking trail through the woods is a disaster and if it ever was clearly marked with yellow ribbon, that’s been gone for years. There’s a small dog enclosure along with a grassy area at the back of the park. In that area there’s a picnic table that’s been mowed around-never moved, and weeds are 2 feet high under it. It kind of pictures for you the lack of attention to detail-especially for a KOA brand. The staff were fine, but with a little elbow grease this park could easily be great.

This KOA had a more relaxed feel in contrast to the corporate-y feel of most KOA’s, much to my delight. This medium sized park was on the side of a hill with the full hook up sites cut in to be level. There are both pull through and back in sites. There is a playground and kids game area, and a laundry. The shop was well stocked with snacks and camping essentials. The pool was not open during our visit due to unexpected major equipment issues that they were working to resolve. It will probably be open by the time you visit but call if it’s an issue for you.

Very disappointing for a KOA facility (which apparently has no minimum standards for a KOA affiliated campground per the KOA staff I spoke with), so apparently staying at a KOA campground assures you of nothing except higher fees.||As stated by others, sites were uneven in a very hilly, terraced area, sewer hookups were too high to allow for adequate drainage. Campground looks nothing like the lovely picture on this page. Run down, grass overgrown everywhere and difficult to walk through, shoes were soaked. "Dog park" is a very small, overgrown area (where ticks thrive) with a picnic table thrown in, and surrounded by a black chain link fence and on the edge of the woods. We did not take our dogs in there; I wouldn't have put my livestock in there. No dog litter bags provided as in most places as they encourage owners to pick up after their dogs (we had our own bags). Disc golf course was overrun. I guess they stop mowing/maintaining after summer. No cable, wi-fi spotty but the grounds are in a heavily treed area. If you have no expectations other than a place to stop for the night, this is your place, albeit at a high cost. In all fairness, perhaps this is standard for this area but was way below what we've experienced at any other KOA in other areas of the country. Staff at check in were very nice.
