I was subpoenaed as a witness for a case in which my family and I were victims of a drunk driver. For the initial hearing (after many emails and calling the court repeatedly), we were granted the ability to appear virtually via Zoom because two of us now lived out of state. The hearing was rescheduled and I received another summons. I emailed again and after not hearing back after a few days, I called and was told the information was being passed along and they were waiting to hear from the judge. After still not hearing back, I called the Friday before the hearing (Tuesday) and was told the same information. I called again Monday early afternoon (the day before the scheduled hearing) and left a voicemail. I called again Monday around 4 (an hour before they close) and was met with "well why are you calling an hour before we close the day before, did you not know before now that you wouldn't be able to attend?" (THREE WEEKS I HAD BEEN TRYING TO GET AN ANSWER) and in the end, her answer was that they don't do virtual attendance for traffic court and I can try sending an email to the judge about why I can't be there and see what happens. Approximately 20 minutes later (now THIRTY MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING, THE DAY PRIOR TO THE HEARING), after sending yet another email, the probate clerk called my sister to tell her that she spoke to the judge (and even "interrupted a meeting to get an answer" 😲) and we would not be expected as witnesses and we would not receive a bench warrant for it.
The kicker, though, was finding out that the defendant had passed away soon after the initially scheduled hearing - FOUR MONTHS before these subpoenas were signed off on.
It is absolutely unconscionable to go face this level of negligence, disorganization and non-communication as just a subpoenaed witness. What an embarrassment.

Very rude people on the phones! I called about my traffic ticket and was put on hold for 20 mins. Then called on another phone while still on hold and was assisted. I see lots of poor reviews about the phone operators. HR needs to retrain because they must have forgotten customer service etiquette.

I would give ZERO stars if I could. I've dealt with the Newton County Probate Court a couple of times over the last few months for my marriage license, and then a minor traffic citation. EVERY time I have called, I have been met with rudeness right off the bat. The people who work here are absolutely miserable and it is a shame that we cannot use a county service without being met with total nastiness from this staff. I have been in shock each time I've dealt with them based on how I have been spoken to. It is completely ridiculous, and needs to be dealt with. I went to the Covington Municipal Court for help and they were extremely professional, and answered my questions about the traffic citation I received, when they did NOT have to do that. The staff at the probate court could really learn something about customer service from our friends at the City. Such a shame.

I have a traffic ticket I'm trying to pay. Called the number provided two times and someone picked up the phone and hung up immediately both times. This was an indication that there is someone answering the phones. This is a work day, there is a court session scheduled for today, and their hours say they're open at this time. I proceeded to call back about 10 times and they keep hanging up on me... Not sure how they expect people to pay their tickets? If this were a business I wouldn't be very happy, but I can understand if a private ownership didn't want to answer. They have that right....
It's not a business. This is our government........ THIS IS OUR GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!....... If you're going to hold your citizens to a standard of paying their traffic tickets then you should hold yourself to the same standard of being there to accept said payment.

Several of the morons reviewing here are mistaking this court for the Probation Court. This is the PROBATE court. I had a 5 star experience with the staff here and Marsha was especially fantastic to work with. First time waited only a few minutes and on the second visit Marsha saw me and proactively came out and got me to finish probating a will. Everyone had a very pleasant attitude.

Spent three and a half hours there trying to figure out which court room my son had court in today, went from 3rd floor to first floor and nobody knew anything ,left and five hours later my son called yo let me know he was in court ,do called back to see why they couldn't help me after me spending all that time there going from court room to clerks office to deputies and even calling jail yo see , no one knew he was in court but him. I really am upset that no one could tell me anything and then leaving and him there with no support at all. After talking to my son and call g back up there he shows up on probate court, now how do you think that makes me feel , I had to reassure him that I was there and talked to everyone not once but three different times. Somewhere the ball was dropped and no one wants to admit it was their fault. Our justice system needs to be looked into. They should know who and what is going on with in their courts.Smh it's a shame that my son thought we didn't care enough to show up when we were there.

Wow! Called for a simple question and Marsha was so incredibly rude. It was a 3 minute call and she was intolerable.
